As someone who grew up on Long Island, I must agree.

First of all, it’s “on” Long Island. Second, the article is about heroes “who basically only protect New York City.” And even if we were to include all NYC-based heroes, Long Island is not part of NYC.

Agree wholeheartedly with everything you wrote. And I’ll add that the people who volunteer their time or work at shelters are usually really good people, so in any kind of spat like this I’m going to take their side. And I adopted from a shelter and haven’t regretted the decision once.
