And then, at 0:54, chick becomes Best Cat Toy Evar.

There's a point where it becomes appropriation and leaves a very bad taste in the mouth. It's a fine line to walk.

I've absolutely read it. Don't you remember how Krondar Son of Man lost his fingers?

One of my favorite features in Oglaf is the archive. There are warnings if a particular story arc contains Safe for Work material.

Keep it in the scabbard!

That's very sad, but not as sad as the end of the drachma a few years ago.

What a wicked parrot it was, to be sure

Well, considering there's a good deal of reason to believe that a single, historical Yeshu ben Maryam, Haploid of Nazareth never actually existed I'll put down "Whoever was Emperor in the Asterix books"

The problem is, that like everything else Giselle writes, there's too much gratuitous fanservice, and everyone, I'm mean EVERYONE has to ritualistically confront his or her bisexual tendencies. Hello, girl. There are people who are gay or straight.

Oglaf absolutely rocks. It's smutty, hilarious, clever and very well drawn.

Hebrew is written without vowels. So that version of the Name is written yod-hey-vav-hey, just the consonants. The vowels are interpreted or inferred. "Jehovah" or "Yahweh" or "Yahoovahoo" could all be pronunciations of the letters as written.

And that's exactly what I've come to be disappointed with in so much of today's fantasy. It seems like everything has to be a great lumpish open-ended multi-million word epic. The craft or writing a tight plot that moves the story along is almost lost. It's so refreshing to find an author who engages your interest,

Oh, I'm not dinging him. It's absolutely consistent with the setting and perspective. It wasn't clear from Octopussoup's note whether he thought the book might treat these traditions sympathetically

Thank you very much.

You'd prefer maybe Yahoo! Wahoo! :)

A better title might be Suck: All the Remaining Life

Arabic cursing is a highly developed art form.

Cover art often has little to do with a book. In this case the older guy is definitely not YHVH. He's an old monster-killer, a scholar and swordsman.

There's very little written in the West, especially in the last eleven years, which views Islam and Muslims as anything except utterly corrupt and evil. This book does. And it isn't forced. It just happens to be set in a fantasy Muslim rather than a fantasy European world.

I bought this book with low expectations. I thought it wold have a little appropriation a little Arabian Nights. What the hell, it might not be too bad.
