Those are all valid points; I guess I think of the steep starting curve as a positive thing, although my experience isn’t entirely relevant, since the first instrument I learned was violin. Mechanically, the violin doesn’t require much hand strength, and the small, flat-wound strings are pretty easy on your fingers.
