I don't recall anything being said about Dreamfall (the original sequel to TLJ) having originally been episodic. I only remember the announcement of Chapters being episodic, and feeling half-half about whether this was a good or a bad thing.

Episodic releases was indeed the original plan for Dreamfall Chapters, back in 2007 when the game was announced.
