I’ve been very happy with my choice. Mine also has a tune, but some additional torque down low would be great. Makes up for it at the top end, though! My kids are 10, 8 & 4, so it’s a great size for my family right now (all 5 of us are rarely in it together).

Mine just rolled 100k. Hope I can keep her for the long haul!

I very nearly pursued getting an E39 M5 before deciding to buy my E90 M3 in the end. The M3 is better for track work, but the M5 is surely superior in many situations on the road. I’d still love to own one. A timeless design, and truly a legendary automobile.

I drive a manual every day in traffic, sure its more work, but its a long way from being “a pain in the ass.”

The day will come when an e36 m3 is worth something. Not mega money, but something. It’s really a fantastic car, even in supposedly neutered US trim. What people fail to understand while they rattle on about how the Euro cars had individual throttle bodies and an available SMG transmission, is that the simplicity of

As an E36 owner who has tracked his car in stick form, I have to agree that it’s underrated compared to other 3 series generations. Some of the criticisms on chassis robustness are valid though. The rear shock towers and trailing arm bushings are common weak points. Reinforcing subframe is common for track duty.

Couple things holding down value:
