I respectfully disagree. Despite what everyone’s general circle jerk for the E46 M3 may indicate, very few exhausts give the S54 an exhaust note that I’d describe as pleasant. Just rasp, rasp and more rasp.

If Taylor Swift were an F1 driver, this is what she would look like...

Remember the time before BMW started focusing more on profits from angry-looking more luxurious cars with lots of settings and buttons, and when they instead sold happy-looking well proportioned sports coupes with straight-6s like the E46 that made angry, raspy music instead of wet farts for an exhaust note?

I must have been incredibly lucky. My 95 M3 gave me 220K miles of faithful service with no major repairs required. This included over 40 hours of track time at various CA tracks.

Plastic water pump impellers? Those were phased out over 10 years ago. They resolved all issues with a composite impeller. Just change your pump every 60k miles. It is only $50.

5. Have a saggy glovebox?

Sure but will the m2...

The E46 M3 is a pretty bulletproof car considering its capabilities. Most of the M3's we see are well past 100k miles, and rarely need anything more than routine maintenance if well kept.

I’m sorry, but if you want the better built car, you go E46. The E36 might get a lot of love around here because...idk why. Affordability? Is that really it? I’m fully aware of the E46 M3 problems, but I would still risk that instead of some super worn out E36 version that the 22 year old previous owner thrashed even

No lie, in 2 more years, these are going to be the Jalopnik Patron Saint of Sleepers. The R-Spec 5.0 V8s are in base 4-cyl Altima territory, still on the factory warranty. It’s nuts.

2009 Hyundai Genesis. It’s listed at 11.2k, but maybe you can talk them down to 10? Nothing is noticed less than a car with basically no identifiable badges.

Surprised this hasn’t been posted yet: W210 E55. This car has aged so well and is one of the most reliable AMGs.

540 with the 6 speed. Won’t let me post the link. Need you look any further?

But then you’d be that jackass in a Cadillac. As opposed to the “connoisseur” in an old, tiny, deathtrap of a 3-series BMW.

I will always idolize the E36. The lines, the way they drive, they are very nice cars to own. I’m half tempted to find a E36 S50 Coupe.

First thing I see on Jalopnik.....

Truly pathetic. Of all the cars I’ve owned, my e9x m3 is the EASIEST car to do a proper powerslide exit with. The M-LSD gives you so much information, it feels practically telepathic. Also, the powerband is more linear than anything I’ve ever driven before, and considering everything is turbo now, more linear than

I’m sorry, were you talking about cars? My attention was.... elsewhere.

Watch me whip... watch me nay naaaaayyyyyy!!!

Epiphany. We can fix the burnout problem quickly and easily while keeping the true spirit of Cars and Coffee alive.
