Think of when an ice skater is spinning. As she moves her arms closer, she moves weight closer to her center (decreasing rotational inertia). As a result, the speed of rotation increases dramatically. Now imagine if one hand held a transmission and the other an engine. Move them closer and the same thing happens.

End result: Rossi fucked himself. Rossi’s actions, not Marquez’s, cost him the championship.

Lessons I learned when I was poor:

My race prepped S2000. Faster lap times than any production car I ever encountered kind of ruined the allure of spending 100K+ on something that would only be slower, less reliable and less engaging.
