You definitely could change them on the to FoMoCo cars I had, although the factory code always worked as well.

My LS430 has oscillating front, center vents and I love them.  I wish they would have kept including them in subsequent generations.

To me this seems like the argument/reasoning the automakers are using is that it’s cheaper/more cost effective for them to only make fully loaded vehicles and sell them at base model prices with money being made on the back end by people who want to pay for certain features.
