Yeah, I ultimately knew this was the answer, I guess I just wanted to have some faith in the individual professors power to fail students once they were admitted. But then, I know nothing about the politics of academia

I just looked that up and hoo-eyyy. How does someone graduate from Georgetown Law only to be told they need to take remedial weekend classes to learn the basic principles of law?!
Remember all that pearl clutching about Harry fucking Potter when it was still being published? I was babysitting one time as a teen and the kids asked what book I was reading. When I told them it was HP they visibly recoiled and said their parents didn’t let them read the “devil’s book”. Sometimes I wish that book…
Seriously. I once had a job where a woman slept with someone under her and gave him herpes. He then slept with someone under him and gave her herpes unknowingly (he was also her first sexual partner).
He also gives sex and intimacy “advice” over on Slate which is, frankly, terrifying!
This will sound gross, but there has been a pretty good amount of content created about the Green River Killer, but, ultimately in the grand scheme of the serial killer genre he’s kind of a dull subject comparatively. I think it’s less about his victims being sex workers and more that he didn’t cannibalize them or…
Mindhunter was great because it focused on the study of these killers and the impact it took on their personal lives, completely agree. I’m really sad it didn’t get picked up for another season/s because it seemed to be gaining momentum and going somewhere with the sparse allusions to catching BTK.
People have ALWAYS been interested in true crime and punishing the perps. The idea that this is some modern phenomenon is a myth.
The absolute GALL of someone who chased down and harassed school shooting victims to ask for privacy is so fucking disgusting, but unfortunately totally on par with their behavior.
Yup. Also things that pay very little and are ventures that people usually supplement with other income until they make it “big”.
Then... Just don’t do it? It’s obviously not their livelihood so just quit.
100%! I’m “that guy” who reads the wikipedia plot summary while I’m watching a movie so spoilers don’t bother me at all. I watch Trixie and Katya recaps often to decide if I want to bother with the actual movie/show
I understand why Emily writes about this, but I don’t understand why it’s given a platform? Cheerleading seems like a fun hobby that keeps you active rather than a full time career, and anyone who goes into expecting it to be the latter just seems... silly? There are lots of jobs that people take when they’re young…
Add to this-- work-friend or coworker. Just because I spend 40 hours a week with you does not mean I’m gonna call you up for relationship advice, etc.
Yeah, this article is fucking gross and by providing the woman’s full name makes it even more gross.
In this attempt to be smart you are literally diminishing this juror’s trauma and her triggers. She made the choice to say she couldn’t continue. Sit the fuck down.
I thought the same thing... aren’t alternates literally random? It’s a 50/50 chance, gender wise, no? It’s not like they replaced the juror with R. Kelly’s cousin.
Would you have been MORE or LESS hurt if he had said “I don’t want to date or have sex with you” point blank? Asking honestly. 17 years is an awfully long time to hold on to a bland dating story...
Especially the blind items! They’re no fun unless you can read other people’s guesses!
I REALLY wish the new iteration of gawker. com allowed comments. At the risk of sounding like a republican--I miss the good old days!
