Don’t bitch at the poor schmucks trying to hang onto local broadcast jobs - they’re going through the same downsizing bullshit that hit print media the last few decades and, especially in the case of anchors, have families to feed and shitty employer-favorable contracts.

Of course you think I “have no idea what journalism actually is” because you’re dismissive of anyone who doesn’t share your beliefs. Strange, this is exactly your argument with Sinclair yet you have no problem being hypocritical.

If you want to make a difference, lobby your lawmakers to have them stop the Tribune deal from going through

Wow.... just wow. It appears almost no one here understands the basic economics of local television.

“Well the world needs ditch diggers too.”

This is all bullshit. Regardless of how anyone feels about whether or not an employer, who pays you to read scripts in front of a camera every single day, should be able to force you read a script in front of the camera. Hmmm.... I’m not seeing any difference here....

Maybe some Sinclair employees out there agree with the message—but the overall internal reaction was frustration and dismay. Even if local employees supported the message, the entire point of this story is that it wasn’t their call anyway.

Molly Shen of KOMO made a statement (with detailed follow-up on Twitter and Facebook) essentially saying she wasn’t forced, she’s proud of the local reporting they do, and please send your complaints about the national mandatory stories to Sinclair. Sounded like a cry for help to me.

If you are standing there reciting a speech that you disagree with and presenting it as if it is your opinion then yes, you have sold your integrity.

I see you posted this like five times, so I will be the one to respond. Why would I do that when I can solve the problem by just placing it on the left?

you can flip the door orientation on most models of dryers

I was describing this to my wife, and she hit me with this blasphemy:

Same setup at home.

Great. Now I have to call family in Minnesota. I cannot let this rest. 37 years in southern California I have never seen a dryer on the left.

That’s wild. My new washer, and my previous one, are/were top-load and the door opened towards the back (neither right nor left) - you lift straight-up (for lack of better way to describe it).

My washer and dryer are like that! The air vent for the dryer is on the left because it leads outside, so I can’t configure it any other way. I never thought it was weird till this post.

Why? Why would you do this to yourself?

This picture makes me feel the urge to go re-organize my record collection or something.

It’s completely to do with the water line hookups. Washer hoses come in standard lengths, so the washing machine is going to go on whichever side is closest to the hose hookup.

To this day, my working theory is that 85% of these stories are made up. Don’t get me wrong, most of them still make me laugh, but I’m not right in the head.
