From this angle, that looks pretty damn hot!
I actually yawned while reading this.
I am not nominating this for "best" — just sharing a little ridiculousness. This guy owns (owned?) a Jeep and offroad shop locally. He was pretty proud of these tattoos. I'm blocking out his face since I'm posting this without his permission (haven't talked to the guy in years).
double post
I think that's "DIE FREE" but I could be wrong. It's quite the squiggle.
It's incredibly aggressive emissions. There are TWO 6oo cell cats behind the turbo. Those pretty much rob all of the exhaust note (and top end power). I went to a single 200 cell with a resonator and it sounds excellent. It doesn't stink and it'll still pass emissions in all 50 states.
Yeah, I don't know if it was supposed to sound like a 6 cyl, or just more aggressive in general, but it's a joke. I get why they did it, but come on. It's actually more droney than anything else. It also sounds very weird with a downpipe because it doesn't match the exhaust note.
I'm sure it'll have the Soundaktor — the car sounds very boring without it unless you have a downpipe or CBE. I have a downpipe and it sounds great without the Soundaktor. Mine has been unplugged for almost 2 years. I actually made a video on how to unplug it... It literally takes 2 minutes.
Yes — the Tiguan uses the 4th generation Haldex and the R uses the 5 generation. I'm sure the R's controller is tuned more for performance as well.
It's not rumored. They confirmed it in their press release the other day: "To ensure great chassis dynamics, there's a new sport suspension, the "progressive" variable-ratio steering system, and a stability control system ("ESC Sport") which can now be deactivated for track driving."
Scirocco R does not have AWD.
Every time I hear exhaust systems on VR6 motors I want to do one on our 3.6 VR6 CC 4-motion. Drool.
It's not actually quattro — it's not the Audi developed system. The TTS is not using the Audi developed quattro either. It's Haldex. Just do a google. It's good and works very well (I have it in my VR6 CC), but it's not the same thing, and quattro is indeed better.
Sorry, leasing quotes are relatively meaningless since they are based on too many things. Compare purchase price. An R is 20% more than an Autobahn equipped GTI, not almost twice as much.
You are completely correct, they aren't even close to the same thing. It's 4Motion because that's what VW calls it. Of note, however, is that Audi also calls the Haldex setup in the S3 and the TT Quattro. Is it the same Torsen setup as the rest of their lineup? Nope. Is it the same system as in the Golf R? Yep. But…
AWD is the key point here. If you want to compare a Golf derivative to a Focus ST, compare the FWD $25k GTI, not the much more expensive AWD Golf R.
Considering it's a whole lot of carbon fiber, aluminum, and other exotic materials, there is probably not much iron. The value of all of the raw iron probably is more than Travis makes in a week. :)
Badum tish!
