As the other replied said, Capriati, Graf, Austin, and Hingis were all phenoms at this age. So was Monica Seles. It’s crazy that when Seles was stabbed on the court she had already 8 Grand Slam titles and was only 19 years old.

From what I’ve read, it was her father’s decision to play for the country of Japan. He felt the USTA wasn’t giving Naomi any support and Japan’s tennis association would. It turned out to be a smart decision. Naomi is already a huge star in Japan.

Since nobody will stop the onslaught of movies being adapted into Broadway musicals, choosing slightly off-beat properties like this at least pique my interest. With a solid team developing it, this could be a really fun show. 

This falls under the same category as Greta Gerwig remaking Little Women. No matter how great the adaptation turns out to be, I’ve seen the story multiple times and it feels unnecessary.

This has always been more of the media making a rivalry where one doesn’t really exist. Serena has had competitive rivals, most notably Venus, Henin, and Hingis. But Sharapova can’t be called a rival. These days, Serena’s only rival is herself and Margaret Court’s 24 slams.
