Good point about correlation factors. The nature of the brand (being all EVs) will tend to concentrate the cars to certain states and driving locations. Without controlling for those factors, it's anyone's guess why the numbers. It also matters if the fatalities are talking about in-vehicle or to others.

I’m not defending TESLA but, There’s definitely a lot more to this. The folks killing people in Buicks are probably geriatric so could be the demographic driver that’s the issue not the car itself. I see no reason why a Buick would we any different than an equivalent Platform GMC or Chevrolet. EV’s in general are more

That’s OK. He’s pretty confident that his followers don’t know anything about how tariffs work either. Hopefully neither of them get the opportunity to find out up close and personal.

And 50% of the current Presidential candidates as well. Sigh. Thankfully, I have not read at a sixth grade level since, er, the second grade... I’m no math genius, but I did manage a highest honors accounting degree, so there is that at least.

It costs a lot of money to be poor.

The people who get into these megabad car loans are typically pretty desperate. They need transportation to get to work and for whatever reason don’t have access to better forms of transit. They also don’t have the mechanical skills/knowledge necessary to identify a good cheap cash car.

Are you suggesting there should be LESS safety regulation for cars because motorcycles, cyclists, and pedestrians exist?

I finally saw one new Z out on the road… and it had dealer tags on it because someone was taking it for a test drive. The only other ones I’ve seen in person have been parked in dealer showrooms. I don’t think it’s selling very well at all.

I think I can count on one hand the number of new Zs I have seen on the roads here. I hate to be the “the economy” guy, but pricing and the state of our *waves around to everything* has just made toy cars unattainable for most of us.

They made the mistake of letting the price creep up way too much. I bought a new Hybrid Ford Maverick for $25k MSRP. A new Miata has got to cost less than a more functional vehicle.

I am on Miata #4, but this feels click baity.

The styling is a real step down from previous generations. The Conti was always a big, bulbous, curvy car. It’s thiccness in 4-wheeled form. This one is really squared off, and they keep making the grille bigger with every update. It’s ruined the whole look. And the quad headlights were iconic. These giant single

What is the point of that engine bay? No one who owns one of these things is going to open their own hood to access either of the exactly two exposed fluid caps, so why does everything else need to be hidden under a second layer of plastic?

Anyone else would quietly delete their erroneous comment and walk backwards into the bushes. Me? I’m going to thank you.

his point, among many is that this battery is smaller and lighter than competitors. This car isnt carrying around a heavy arse load of highly flammable gasoline that makes the car more deadly for others in a crash. You obviously have some anti EV bias, might want to check it.

Yeah, that huge battery (118 kWh) is about half the size of the Hummer EV / Chevy Silverado EV battery and contains the same amount of energy as 3.5 gallons of gasoline and just knocked out 523 miles on a charge at highway speeds.  Your point?

Hmmm.

This is a true head-scratcher. You’ve had this maybe a year, poured $50K of mods into it, and now you’re selling it on CL? Somebody’s life took an unexpected turn. Unfortunately, they’re now left to thread a needle in finding the right price for the right buyer, if those two things intersect anywhere. ND.

Its the best looking car BMW makes right now, and this one looks fantastic. However, the asking price is *aspirational*. ND

ND because buying used makes no sense, if you can afford 115k you can afford to buy new
