For much of the working population, simply providing food, clothing and shelter for themselves is beyond their means.

In areas with winter and road salt, you wouldn’t find many cars from 2000 in good condition.
Of course they focus on the payment. Savings are non-existant. It’s not like buyers today are considering either paying in full from savings or financing. It’s always going to be financed / leased. Monthly payment is (in their minds) the only thing they need to negotiate.
Probably not a huge problem for new car dealers / manufacturers. On an eight year loan some of these repo cars will be relatively old and with high mileage. Not the kind of vehicle you’d cross-shop with new.

I thought Chevy invented them as a way to keep a sleeping elderly person from falling over.
I have one of these stupid things in my Forester. So now I have three mirrors, a rear window and a little TV screen all giving me the same information.

Would it make more sense to put the Prius body on a chassis suitable to the Cummins?
I thought I saw ET urinating, but this is better.
It looks vaguely like ET urinating on the Port of Miami.
Although the extra 0.2" of seat width is nice, it doesn’t help me much. I am not a gigantic human being. I fit quite easily between the armrests, but I am about 24" wide at the shoulder with my arms at my side (leaving at least 6" of overflow).
I have to book window seats and then have to kind of twist to allow my row…
Got Kinja’s there.

Many of these guys just stick a DOT sticker on a fake helmet. I will never understand the point of that.
You’re trusting in the same insurance companies who set the safety standards for everything else.
People calling him out on his project could certainly have been doing so out of concern for his safety.
