JMP, I'm in the exact same boat. The funniest part is my mother has no idea who any of the people are herself, and yet somehow every conversation about DWTS lasts at least 15 minutes. I had to explain to her that one of the contestants was famous for being one of Hugh Hefner's three live-in girlfriends, a few years

No, there are instrumental flourishes in there during "Zero". "EG" is at least 10 seconds of a cappella Corgan.

If Nyesha trampled all the LCK cheftestants and ended up in the finale, I would have been interested. Then, they re-peaked my interest by Beverly coming back…only to have her immediately eliminated. Any sense of drama or retribution built up was dashed. Hopefully Paul will win and this won't be a 100% waste of a

"Third" is one of my favorite albums that's come out in the last decade so thanks for that, 2008. Other albums that I love from '08: Crystal Castles, In Ear Park (Department of Eagles), Chemistry of Common Life (Fucked Up), Hercules & Love Affair, Matador Singles '08 (Jay Reatard), The Fame (Gaga), Sant[o]gold, Dear

Billy Corgan "rapping" without any background music on "The Everlasting Gaze" is so awkward.

You had me at "Bruce Vilanch isn't funny."

What a mess of a season that I was at times rooting for Josh M because at least he designed and didn't sew his models into everything he made. I probably should have stopped watching.

Ugh, that one hurt my soul, especially because the original lyrics are so sweet. Why couldn't they just have used an instrumental version? Blecch. I had just started listening to Of Montreal around then so I had all kinds of funny conflicting feelings. Then "Hissing Fauna" came out and all was forgiven.

boooo dislike

That means you've never heard Skrillex, you lucky bastard.

I think Conan needed more time adjusting to a larger crowd and the older folks. NBC didn't give him that chance. If he'd had a few years to sort things out like Fallon did things might have worked out to his benefit in the same way they did for Fallon.

yeah I don't think that's been around since 2009. But that lineup where Radiohead headlined two nights…that was delicious. East Coast has the worst festival luck. Anyone remember the disastrous Field Day Festival?

I just looked through all 1118 comments and no one has mentioned Nicholas Jaar (I don't think). That is an example of an album I thoroughly enjoyed in 2011.

I was blown away at how off-key she was when I saw her live. Thank goodness I was at a festival and did not pay to see her alone. If you're bringing the big pipes, girl, you better be hitting the right notes.

Saw them at a tiny stage in  SF at the Outside Lands festival. I'm not sure if the music was perfect for the hazy, chilly day but I thought they nailed it, and I  heard of them from AV Club. I ended up listening to the album a lot during certain moods/times of day and it totally hit the spot. I'll still defend them. I

haha, I think this list is an inverse of mine! Except for Radiohead, which I did indeed come to love, and I am not familiar with Crooked Fingers. Woods' album is nice but I don't think I've given it enough listens.

I am a superfan enough that, to get two new awesome Radiohead songs on record and know that they'll hit the rest out of the park live is enough to make me happy. One of the best albums of the year? Only if I have a pretty long list, but I do listen to it from time to time. It's grown on me.

I hope you aren't implying the The Woods is shitty. Not quintessential S-K sound, but it's a kickass album.

Listening to "Sknny Love" still gives me chills. Nothing on this new album makes me look up from my homework, which is the only time I listen to it.

I'll take this one further: Jimmy didn't have sex before he got shot and there was a whole episode plotline about him not being able to get an erection. He complains that his tombstone will read "Jimmy Brooks, Crippled Virgin" and *that* is the phrase that comes into my mind whenever I hear Drake's name mentioned.
