Yes, that is what HE said. But his parents pressed charges, successfully, defining this, de facto, as a rape.

No in eyes of the law the man convicted is someone who committed a crime (statutory rape). The law is to determine when someone is guilty of wrong doing, not when someone is a victim. It states what makes something a crime, not what makes something a victim.
The thing is, what i’m saying is a proven method to help the problem. What you’re saying is a simplistic method that has never helped, but actually proven to have made the problem worse. I’m not talking about my “beliefs” regarding this, i’m talking about what works.
Hate crime can be controlled though. Racism can be reduced, same with bigotry, you just need cultural changes. Rape has much more to do with misogyny and methods used to reduce that have been extremely helpful in actually reducing rape cases. So I’m not talking hypotheticals, I’m talking actual proven methods.…
You know rapists target women who do things that society suggests is a “risk for a woman.”
Suggesting moderate drinking is better because drinking irresponsibly is a health risk is not the same as suggesting moderate drinking is better because it will “help them not get raped”
Well becoming incapacitated or passing out at a party is risky and stupid behavior for all people. Men are actually more likely to drink to an unhealthy level than women
It is possible to reduce and even near rid society of misogyny and with that also rape
If you wanted to have sex with him and then got drunk and left with him with the intention of having sex then it’s not rape. That being said, unless the guy knew you wanted to have sex with him before reaching that level of drunkeness then it is possible that he doesn’t care about consent much.
Yes you said everything! This episode was especially disappointing as the season finale when last week’s episode was done so well. I kind of wish that had been the season finalie because this sunday’s episode was just bleh and a tad bit annoying. There’s so much better that can be shown in this show but the HBO…
I think it’s a valid question
The fact that people feel the need to ask why when you say “no” to wanting kids is evidence that there is difference in treatment of breeders and non-breeders. Sure most people don’t really care but asking those who don’t want kids to explain why shows that those who want to remain child-free are doing something that…
I wonder why she didn’t sue the husband. Isn’t he the one in violation of their marital contract
Even if she came to know the truth, it’s the husband who has a responsibility towards his wife, not some strange woman. Now, if she actually knew the wife then she would be in the wrong but her wrongness still wouldn’t be anywhere close to the level of wrongness of the husband.
There definitely needs to be a change in culture to combat this problem in America. I don’t think that can be reduced by eliminating frat parties or just reducing the drinking age. I think frat parties and team athletes can exist in a better world but for that better world we do need to change the culture of binge…
These two things should be separated to give a better understanding of what exactly is going on.
There’s also the problem that we’ve been conditioned to think:
Another point that is often overlooked when claims like “women hold other women back the most” are made is that, peer policing among men happens just as much when they too try to break patriarchal gender norms. Not only that but women are actually more considerate of men and women who are break away from patriarchal…
Exactly! If it were really about curiosity of sex and sexuality for a normal 14 year old then he would express that “curiosity” toward girls his age or older. Not little girls who’re sleeping or little girls who’re awake but not old enough to talk yet. That screams predator who wants control and power over his…
Well then what these people should be saying is that their way of life is likely to lead boys to molest their sisters. They’re not saying that. They’re saying that LongRideHomeAgain5 said, that curiosity “naturally” lead to molestation.
