I’d Bloodlines is more “just a side-quest” because it provides the information regarding What Ben Knew and When He Knew It about Vader. If Snoak had been maniplulating Ben for years (according to Leia in TFA), learningwhat his parents hid from him could be a big enough reason for Ben’s turn to the Dark Side.
