It freaked me out. The only good news is the comments are about 98% negative. And hard negative.

Now I’m kind of annoyed. #SandraBrown is a huge story. It’s all over the place. When writing a headline about the Eric Garner story was it called “NY man killed”? Tamir Rice, “Ohio teen shot”? I think if her name was in the headline this story would be viewed more, sad as that is.
Especially when the “combatant” Sandra Bland thanks the person for videotaping it. She knew she was in the right.
I agree. I know there are tons of evil things out there, bad things happening to good people, but this one is really effecting me. I hope justice is done.
The folks over at Twitter are doing their best to keep her name #SandraBland in the top 10. I hope it drives attention to the case.
It got me for a second, but before I could comment... I guess if they had cast Emma Stone as Jasmine, Jennifer Lawrence as the elderly Sultan & Jake G. as Aladdin it might have more instantly triggered my suspicion. Freaking Poe.
I know that is very important to remember what she stood up for #BlackLivesMatter, but even your headline didn’t say her name. SANDRA BLAND. I get the people who want everyone to say her name.
I think they realized they screwed up when they checked her record and it was squeaky clean. And she knew her rights. I think they were silencing someone who would have gotten them in trouble...but they did it in a very symbolic way, didn’t they?
She thanked the person videotaping it. Doesn’t sound like someone that was the one being combatitive, does it?
I know, I had to look it up, too (because I had never heard about it) and while 18 is young, it is legally the age of consent. And she didn’t say it was rape, just sex.
Yes, we can grieve about “what if” I had said yes to someone we said no to, and still love and be very happy with our spouse. We can feel bad that we chose not to major in x,y,z and be happy in our career. I’m very happy I chose not to have children. 99% happy. That’s happy enough.
Thank you for this perspective. It sucks that these girls were all played off one another and even to this day scars of that remain.
Not just that Cherie had Jackie to someone watching and not doing anything in her version. I can really see why Jackie wasn’t cool with that.
Add to this that they didn’t like her to begin with and thought she was too much drama. If Jackie was then normal around the creep later (also VERY normal behavoir) they could easily discount what happened.
It seems that Jackie had other witnesses. I get it if young Joan and Cherie didn’t recognize how bad what was happening was, or if they naively thought Jackie was fine with it, because they were stoned or drunk themselves. But they both come off rather damn callous.
Yeah, you were the one that said someone at that age couldn’t use technology. My comment meant go out and about in this country, all over the wilderness, and freaking technology does nothing for you. There are wonderful places all over CA (I enjoy them) that do not have cellphone reception and if something happened to…
Wrong. A cellphone in your hand in the middle of nowhere does no one any good. Get out more.
They took a wrong turn. They might have been in the middle of freaking nowhere or a place that only people that want privacy go to drive by. I actually think it was the middle of nowhere myself since the people looking for them didn’t see them.
Good grief. My cell phone works in my house, in a normal neighborhood, with an extender only. The minute I am in the hills nearby I have nothing. Nothing! The more rural you are, the more likely this is true.
Oddly enough, if I found out the mother was just like Charles Manson I would want HER punished. Not her kids. And the father’s action’s have been telling, no matter how bad the mother may have been.
