Yes. Three friends of mine were violently murdered by their husbands/boyfriends. I seethe with rage over that crime every single time I read about it, which is far too often, and any man getting away with it makes me even angrier.

Maybe you could explain yourself, rather than just ranting?

Totally.

So what do you suppose it means, that Alicia's chair is broken?

Well, I've been watching it all season under the impression that this is the end. It definitely is time.

I thought it was ending. I was sure that was announced before this season even began. Did I imagine that?

Why are all these British actors playing Americans? Why not make them all British? Even the red-headed woman is British. Weird.

You can't figure out why Libby would be cruel and condescending to Coral? You haven't heard of a little thing called "racism"? Libby insists on treating Coral like a child. This was, and still is, hardly uncommon.

They get even madder if you use V-8 juice.

Short-haired girls need not apply.

Olives come in a variety of colors, from green to brown to purple-black, but the term usually refers to what is also called Mediteranean skin, which looks like a deep tan on a "white" person. One does get very tired, though, of all this emphasis on skin color, don't you think?

As I said, Cleopatra was not Egyptian, in terms of her bloodline/race. And you're right about the plural society. Alexandria was a huge port city, and Africans and Europeans, Middle- and farther Eastern peoples all lived together there. That doesn't mean they were all equal, though. Just all present.

There's often ignorance at work, too, as we see in the video montage. Cleopatra wasn't Egyptian, racially speaking. She was of pure Greek blood, as were all the Ptolemy's (the 1st being Alexander the Great's general, possibly half-brother). They didn't intermarry with the Egyptian populace they ruled, to the point

The only problem with Dreyfus as the Player King is that his performance is so indelible, every other actor winds up being terrible in the role, through no fault of his own. Actually, that's true, too, of Roth and Oldman. They're all perfect. I know what I'll be watching tonight!

Another very weird movie, but Rickman was great in that, too.

Glad to see the inclusion of An Awfully Big (and Very Weird) Adventure. I liked the movie a lot, and Rickman was especially brilliant as Hook. Those scenes alone are worth the price of admission.

Just video and broadcast the damn show, PBS! That would be a public broadcasting service, indeed. (Bloody sold-out, very very expensive show all the way in NYC)

That's a lot of codes.

I have a decent DVD copy that came as part of a box-set of Wender films, put together in Australia (why I have a region-free player). Nice to see it getting some attention now.

You're right. There is so much sarcasm around, I forget that sometimes people are just being nice. Sorry!
