I was at Calhoun’s the other day for lunch and they were incredibly, incredibly casual. And the food was just meh. I don’t get the hype for that restaurant in Knoxville. I’ve eaten some really good food here but Calhoun’s was not nearly the sine qua non of local eating people seemed to make it out to be. Maybe it used

It is if you’re used to a media that doesn’t ever push back for fear of being labeled “leftist”. Simply being asked repeatedly to actually cite evidence was too much for him.

I’ve never seen her in action. Any particular interviews you recommend?

Can she come and interview some of our politicians in the US? She takes zero shit. That was a delight to watch.

Damn! That’s a really complete picture you paint and it def seems plausible. I was intrigued by her statement about her sister’s child who died “it’s wasn’t my fault”.

I cannot begin to imagine. That said I don’t want to watch 12 episodes on repeat of the same formula. I feel at some point it becomes lazy writing because rather than envision other aspects of Gilead to show us explore, other character and narrative arcs, characters growing and changing in response to new adversity

Aunt Lydia’s backstory is half the reason I keep sticking around.

I cannot continue to watch June almost escape and get dragged back. I won’t. I read another review that pointed out protagnists need agency, some sort of story arc and I think that’s astute. Watching June hope, lose hope, suffer repeat isn’t compelling when it happens over and over. It’s just exhausting.

I feel like “Down with Love” was a modern spin on the old Doris Day/Rock Hudson style romances. I thought it was a lot of fun and I loved the visuals.

Bringing up Baby with Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant.

Well and he’s gone on forums where I expect pushback for some of his more bullshit claims and you know what he does? He censors himself. He doesn’t say the shit that he’ll pull elsewhere and instead states platitudes like “It’s important to like you kids, you should try to raise kids you respect.” Which on the face of

Step one has to be get off the damn forum. They tear each other down and reinforce the toxic impotence, insecurity, and rage that is preventing them from growth.

I’ve also noticed he’s super forum specific. So he’s on Realtime with Bill Maher it’s all platitudes that you’re like “Wow, this isn’t that dramatic of a proposition, what’s the hubbub about?” Then you read articles he’s written or interviews he’s given for other venues that agree more with his views and it all comes

I’m live in Knoxville and here’s what I know about Kane. First, he is a genuinely nice man. I worked in the nonprofit sector and the man was always down to come to our events and ham it up with the kids. He’s really active in the area in terms of volunteering and is gracious and eager to put his star power to work.

God I do love cheese.

How about plain honesty? “To be honest Aunt Carol, I’m aware of that. Talking about it makes me feel (whatever you feel). Can we please talk about something else?” It’s a clear line and either they respect that and problem solved or there’s no productive response other than to disengage.

I too have noted the trauma for every mistake and sometimes I find them worthy of a bit of side eye. Like early on when she was saying she was having trouble with a dance routine because of PTSD from her previous season. Really though? PTSD from a foot injury....

Right but this one didn’t have preapproved music but rather told their employees to just “play something cool”. My guess is they got to work and put on a spotify playlist likely not even giving tons of thought to the lyrics in EVERY SINGLE SONG and focused on the work they are paid to do: make and serve coffee. So I

Well if she leaves soon she could still be trophy wife #2 for some other rich man.
