You seem to be correct that 90% figure - "Children of Men" really does seem to show up on nearly every open thread post. I guess it's one of those weird Internet hive mind things. Like an unconsciously continued meme.

If its any consolation, I'm fairly certain the online reaction to the nomination announcements means she's got it in the bag next year. Hell, this could actually increase her chances of winning in 2015.
I heard good things from someone who has seen it. Caveat: I'm not sure how many episodes were actually on the screener, but if it was just the pilot, then . . .?
My bigger issue is with this:
This is super bizarre comment. The sort of stuff you're rambling on about and the references to Warner Bros. would lead me to believe you're attempting satire, but it's all so specific and tonally straightforward.
For what it's worth, CinemaScore's "grades" are a notoriously useless metric of a film's quality. The company gave up any pretense of being in the business of artistic criticism long ago.
I may be reading something in your reply that isn't there, but you seem pissed off/annoyed. Maybe? I don't know, but I wanted to make sure you didn't think I was trying to be nasty or argumentative. I was simply thinking out loud.
Generally, I think your "cute [puppy or whatever]+ death = cheap pathos" equation holds true. But, "I am Legend"'s deployment of the trope is totally justifiable.
But, but . . . there were a random mutation in a viral or bacteria that resulted in a new strain of disease with a 100% mortality rate, it wouldn't matter if that particular mutation was an evolutionary dead end. As long as an infected person remained alive and healthy for a long enough period of time to transmit the…
Ah, okay. Gotcha.
Do you mean do I hear things that are happening in the "real world" while I'm dreaming? Because the answer to that is, sorta, but only when I'm experiencing sleep paralysis.
Right, right, right. Faraday.
Dude, allow me to blow your mind . . . he's the priest - the "he was licking me" guy. He's super young, so I can understand not recognizing him. I loved me some Desmond, but I actually still had to imdb the movie to make sure it was him.
Hah! I was about to correct you on Piltdown Man. Glad I kept reading and got to Barney Rubble before I hit "Publish" on my reply.
I actually have high hopes for The Purge sequel. Okay, maybe not high hopes - let's just say, hopes. It sort of looks like what The Purge coulda, shoulda been.
"Movies have to be about people, preferably white American people. Hollywood will not make movies where an alien is the main protagonist. It's a rule."
Definitely Bronie fan service. Like not even a question. And, for the record, I legitimately thought it was a parody when I saw that clip online last week.
So, what you're saying is we can all look forward to the release of Transformers 5 in the very near future. Thanks, Worldwide audience!
I think it's even worse than that. He gets that these FAQ's exist to snark at logical inconsistencies and related stupid in movies. But he seems to think that all genre movies are equally deserving of said snark due to some flaw inherent to sci-fi and fantasy. Methinks he's on the wrong website. . . or he doesn't…
I wasn't around (io9) when HBO was throwing around their plans for an "American Gods" series so I'm curious: how close in tone/action is this to what HBO was up to? What I mean is, is this going to fall through in a similar manner? Can anybody weigh in?
