The score was great, Desmond from Lost was great, the ridiculous looking fake gore was great, the whole "dark humor played straight" vibe was great.

I just watched Ravenous for the first time yesterday, so I was pleased as punch to see that screenshot. FYI - Netflix has it categorized as a "Period Piece", which, while technically correct, feels delightfully inappropriate.
I'm apparently an outlier, but I experience lucid dreaming pretty much every night. And, I'd be really bummed if I lost it. Sometimes it actually feels like full blown movie, except I'm director, script supervisor, and lead actor. And because it seems so real (and because the time compression factor a la Inception…
But, that's not what that phrase means. It's closer to "that certain something".
According to what I heard on EW Radio this morning [yeah, I listen to Sirius/XM's "Entertainment Weekly" channel; I won't apologize for it ;-)] it is "unrelentingly bleak." The dude basically said it was absolutely worth watching, but doing so might not actually be enjoyable.
I'm sorry, did you just say "cannibal musical number"?!?
I'm usually pretty neutral about spoilers (don't seek them out, also don't freak out if I accidentally run across something) but I feel compelled to ask: is it people? Please tell me the train runs on people, 'cause that's the kind of horrifying symbolism I can get behind in my whacked out sci-fi allegory. (Not…
Amen! The Internet is responsible for many delightful social trends, but the whole Reddit-quality misuse of debate terminology is not one of them. Drives me bonkers.
Hah. See my previous reply re: Warm Bodies.
Warm Bodies? A rare movie that goes straight up "zombie as protagonist". There are a plethora of reasons it shouldn't work (imagine the pitch - it's a hip, modern Rom-Com adaptation of "Romeo and Juliet" . . . also zombies!) but I sort of love it. I end watching it pretty much every time I notice it's on cable.
"Well I do know empirical evidence . . . from what I have seen among everyone who has eaten this way and my own experience . . ."
What is your native language? I'm familiar with English (obviously, hah), a handful of the Romance languages, and a smidge of Russian. None of those use genderless pronouns, so I'm guessing . . . Mandarin? That's not in my wheelhouse, so I don't know if it utilizes gendered nouns/pronouns.
I'm fairly certain that your sarcasm detector isn't the issue - this dude seems to be experiencing a malfunction in his "not being a ridiculous, arrogant prick" subroutine.
It's in English. Not dubbed, it's Bong's English-language debut. And it is the original cut. Here's a fairly comprehensive explanation of Weinstein's shenanigans/eventual decision to release it uncut:
"A lot of us" may want to rethink our snobbery. We shorten words and terms to simplify communication all the freaking time. "Sci-fi" is just a convient abbreviation, nothing more, nothing less.
Oh, okay. It's totally fair game then.
I swear I don't typically bitch about spoilers (pinky promise!). But Orphan Black is my one "absolutely need to go in blind" show/book/movie. I'm admittedly behind (and that's on me) so I might be way off base here, but that photo feels super spoily. It fairly clearly suggests that Sarah gets captured/locked up…
1. Nowhere is it suggested that aliens did this. The artists are very plainly identified in the text.
Unfortunately, it looks like Ethan is still seeing "really bad doctors." Google "Zackerson lymes" (it autocorrects to "Zackrison" -must have just been a typo on the part of the OP bc I can find no evidence a Doctor Zackerson exists.)
You don't think "BDSM enthusiast" is a (not terribly) subtle dig at some of the more questionable choices in styling the Batman franchises have treated us to over the years? I can't be the only person who sees "Bane mask" and thinks, "Batman sex party!"
