Yes— they invented the term “mirrortocracy” to refer to Silicon Valley, but it definitely also applies to Hollywood & any other aspect of business. They want to hire bros who remind them of themselves & whom they’ll enjoy hanging out with outside of work.

They’ve actually done studies about this. It’s not just in the film industry, it’s everything else too.

I’m partial to the rarely seen species Nupta volpes corneolus.

I am an engineer and I would rock the shit out of that pantsuit on my wedding day and every day, with gorgeous nude heels, big sunglasses, red lipstick and my pixie cut.

Its not just wedding dresses, trying to find blouses or dresses with real sleeves is a total pain. I don’t want to have to wear cardigans all the tine, give me some sleeves.

It has pockets, though, the very outer limit of avant garde.

Why can’t anyone do sleeves properly?

Oh hell, I live in Wyoming. I know several brides that would rock the shit out of the country style ones. I have a co-worker who is from Boston and getting married this summer, she is soooooo enamored with all things western yawnnnnnnnnn. NO!

A strapless ballgown? How new and unique!

A lot of people are under the mistaken impression that America is a meritocracy. Hahahahaha, no.

Aaaand Stacey Dash continues to be a nightmare.

She is a clueless joke

So, work harder to get the same pay? That’s what her statements say to me. That’s not how a market economy is supposed to work. Work has value, you get paid that value. Why should women have to work harder - be extraordinary - to get the same value of someone (with a penis) who is decidedly ordinary?

Stacey Dash needs to stop talking. Just a few days ago she pronounced on FAUX that no one was beheaded during the Bush administration ... except that’s not true (Daniel Pearl & Nicholas Berg) ... and now she says she believes the numbers on wage disparity but she doesn’t. I just can’t EVEN with this dumb-dumb.

Um, the problem is that we already have women who are extraordinary, who take as many opportunities they can take on and are badass at what they do...and those women are still making less than their male counterparts.

I haaate when discussion about wage gaps and/or the glass ceiling are met with, “Just work harder! If you can do twice as well as the guys, they can’t deny you!” As if that’s inspiring instead of depressing. Having to work harder to achieve the same results is the problem, not the solution!

“You can still get paid the same, you just have to work twice as hard for it!”

Yep, no problem with that at all.
