While this initiative is awesome and great, it's a fucking disgrace that an outside non-profit has to raise the funds to get these kits tested. That in itself diminishes the nature of these crimes - that they aren't important enough to make it into the county budget.

Especially considering that state and local taxpayers are kicking in $285 million to build Mike Ilitch a new arena for his Detroit Red Wings hockey team. The Ilitch family's net worth is estimated at $4 billion.
