Here’s what addiction specialists say in response to Mel Gibson’s use of addiction to excuse his assholery:

I hate this excuse so much. There are thousands of people out there with substance abuse issues that don’t physically assault people. There are thousands of people with past trauma that don’t assault people. Now, are those thousands of people 100% peachy keen all the time? Probably not. But if it was just the drugs or

I don't think either of the designers were virginal...They were married!

She developed bulimia because Charles put his arm around her and asked her if she was getting chubby.  He’s such a dipshit.

I thought you were commenting on all of those damn Peter Pan collars she wore back when she was “shy Di.” Also cardigans.  You were so bang-on ;-).

She also lived in her own purchased flat in London with roommates, held down a job, and by all accounts led a normal city girl life. She had lovers before Charles, albeit not many. The whole Young Di portrait of pastoral innocence was some good-ass PR.

Also struggling to believe that the Palace and the royal family would let her choose her own gown without any supervision. That is not how they operate at all. More than likely, the designs were limited by the palace staff and she was given only a cursory say in any of the selctions.

But, but, but, it was the height of fashion then!!! Honestly, with the sleeves brought down a bit it wouldn’t be half bad for modernity. It’s campy and lovely, I think. In an 80's way...

That looks like a Marie Antoinette milkmaid dress that she forced her least favorite lady in waiting to wear.

I agree with all that you say with the exception of that horrific dress. It will never be admired. Not 30 years from now. Not 100 years from now. And I have seen a lot of fashion come round again due to being around for so long. I understand that they felt she needed something very grand due to the nature of the event

There’s already been an 80s resurgence. Fashion has gone on to 90s and early aughts now.

Laura Ashley on speed! I was a teenager in the 80's and this dress was awful to me then... also, I was SUPER creeped out by their age difference and all the attention paid to her virginity. Gross.

In Boston it’s slush, and the only place to get it (made right) is the North End (the Italian neighborhood) and the only flavor is lemon. And it’s perfect.

Yes, Icee is a brand of slushie.

It’s water ice. Or wooderice, depending on how much you’re leaning into that.

Hang on, I need to stop at the ATM machine and enter my PIN number before I can buy a water ice.

Potential brain freeze.

Snow cone.

In Philly, we call it wooderice.
