Mathilda

I own the book, I have since I was 10, and I've kept it around because every time I sort through my books, I think, 'Oh, it's supposed to be so great, I'll read it eventually'.

This movie pretty much fucked an entire generation.

Who would think to show this as a kid's movie?

Oh yeh, that was freaky! When I was a kid, the teachers took our whole primary school to see the movie. They rented out the whole theatre. (It was only a country school that catered for ages 5 to 12). That violent bit with general what-his name and the dogs made me feel sick...ugh.

Even muted, watching this was traumatizing

*raises hand to signify membership of demographic of children whose grandparents/parents/babysitters decided "Oh it's a cartoon about bunny rabbits, they'll enjoy this" and O DEAR GOD THE FIGHT SCENES THE MURDERS THE DESTRUCTION OF THE WARREN THE SNARE EFRAFA ANYTHING WITH BIGWIG THE DOG SCENE AT THE END THE CREEPY

Yes fuck this movie/book and the people who thought it was a good idea to show it as an end of the year treat to my elementary school. I'll never watch the plague dogs or read We3 due to the residual shell shock of this movie.

Yes!! The General scared the hell out of me when I was three or four, and the whole creepy , foreboding vibe.

Bunnycaust. No. Just ... no. (shudders. Forever.)

Even if I walk by the book, I give it dirty looks. So many nightmares about rabbits that are evil and kill. I've been told it's an excellent story, but I will never find out. My 5 year old self, who thought bunny story would be great, is still angry at it. And I could handle the creepy white rats in NIHM.

Women fighters in reasonable armor.

And those privileged groups are the ones who invented the criteria for "smart."

History is written by the victors,or those willing to pay for their preferred version.

True: it's why no scientist is allowed to do anything without philosophickal approval from a board-certified philosopher.

In Mexico, it's can they have coffee, sex, tea, beer, and whether it's ok or not to still wear heels.

What's especially irritating about the likes of Wade is that it's a return to a particularly old-fashioned and racist form of genetic determinism.

"Europeans are genetically predisposed to "nonviolence..."

I'm having difficulty reconciling the idea of Europeans being non-violent with pretty much the entire history of Europe.

An accurate simulation where you play as the commander of any side in the battle of Midway would be much more educative than just reading about it.
