I wish all stores did this. People used to come up to my cash register all the time with the cheese that was like, 13 oz instead of 16 oz or whatever, and the mistake is an easy one to make.

2) you missed the point 55 dollars for internet access (yeah at hot spots, but there are a lot around not just libraries) a phone line (which will probably run you about 30 dollars no matter what and thats lan or cell ) and email (saving money on stamps) plus online bill paying which can save you a boatload in late

Because every homeless person is a drug addict. I think it's great you give homeless people gift certificates, but if you're giving them cash, no need to be a prat about it.

No kidding. The demise of the logging industry is one of the many reasons our state is struggling so much.

And? Many of these people paid into taxes, too, before they fell on hard times. If they work, then they are at least still paying into SOME taxes, if not income tax.

Totally. I loved the rush of cashiering, actually. I took pride in bagging the fuck out of thing, knowing all the codes, and doing it all while having conversations with customers that would ensure they felt welcome enough to come back. That's impressive about all the food stamps and whatnot! I bet your back was

As someone who has also been varying degrees of poor (at one point living off of probably $10k a year with a bit of school money here and there), I'm not going to argue that there aren't ways to be more frugal. However, at that point I was so poor I couldn't afford a cake pan, which btw food stamps would not cover. I

Oh, SWOON! A cashier at Wal-Mart! Not saying cashiering jobs aren't difficult or good, hard work (they are, and I know from experience), but boo fucking hoo?

It's most decidedly NOT a thing that I've ever heard, at least. They're full of shit. They made some portmanteau of offensiveness and thought they could pawn it off on USians.

As a former chubby, nerdy kid, I can't wait for my transformation into full-on hottie. Any day now...

I was hoping someone would jump in here with some knowledge of NHS midwives. I thought they were likely more regulated too.

To be fair I was quoting Patton Oswalt in his Christmas Shoes bit! I should have clarified. It was such a genius line I had to share with the class.

"I died for your sins but those pumps are UNFORGIVABLE. *bitchy laugh*"

At least in the US, there are two different kinds of midwives: CNM/CNPs (Certified Nurse Midwives/Nurse Practitioner Midwives) who have serious medical training and can prescribe medicine, etc, and CPMs (Certified Professional Midwives). CPMs are the ones, in the US, who tend to attend to homebirth. Basically anyone

It is amazing to me that these women don't get more champions. We as feminists are fierce advocates of women controlling their own bodies, but many in the movement would see laboring mothers hand over all autonomy to some old white guy who "knows what is best."

Yeah, it's the impression I get from a lot of the women I talk to who were like me - on the fence about a hospital birth but not entirely comfortable with a homebirth, either. Knowing that I can trust my midwives and the hospital, it definitely pushed me towards the hospital side.

Holy shit! That is my nightmare, especially since I might not be able to breastfeed because of PCOS. That poor woman. :( I hope she talks to that person's superior or something. That's way inappropriate.

Perfect.

I find myself more open to accepting needing a C-section or getting an epidural BECAUSE I have a true advocate in my midwife.

I love LOVE my midwives. As a fat person (with an underlying hormonal disorder), I have been treated like shit countless times by doctors. My fertility doctor was the one who started to restore my faith in medical professionals, and my midwives make me feel like I can trust again. I'm definitely sticking with them for
