I simply stopped downloading new apps. I have about six apps that I use consistently, no matter what Android phone I switch to. I almost never look for for new apps in the Play Store. That is how I can mitigate addiction.

I did it by going old school. I was using my phone so much that my hands were starting to cramp up so I figured out why I always ended up with my phone in my hand no matter how often I put it away.

Another tip: Turn off Notifications and all features that serve no real purpose - this includes paralax view and all motion features that serve no function.
