SO fucked up.

It was nice to see a character react realistically to encountering his long-dead parent, wasn't it? After that guy in the first episode of Legends, whose response to seeing both of his dead parents standing in front of him, young and alive, was basically, "Oh, heeeey, it's you guys, cool."

Barry's big grin as the portal closed had me like, "Um, weren't you supposed to go back for the Iron Mask guy? Didn't you promise?"

We pictured him going home to his family and demanding to know what they've done for him TODAY.

South Park has never done anything less funny than Randy/"Lorde." Really. Not funny. So tedious. Cannot believe they're actually still running that non-joke.

Uh, I think you've completely misread my comment. I don't think Guns N Roses or Talking Heads are obscure or underground. I also don't think bands like Dinosaur Junior or whatever other 90s major-label-alt-rock—like Green Day, which was specifically who I meant—are obscure or underground. That was my point: he's

Eh, we just thought it was funny; the stories themselves were ridiculous and meant to be silly/amusing.

"Name of the deceased: Something Polish?"

Yeah…I actually wouldn't recognize a Dave Matthews Band song if I heard one, but acting like you're all supercool because you're not into that mainstream shit and then admitting to liking The Grateful Dead (and a bunch of other mainstream radio shit)? And enjoying a Talking Heads song(!) that says the same thing even

In my high-school creative writing class, a friend of mine and I wrote a series of stories about various twisted murderers who drove white windowless vans.

I disagree that they're a great band, but completely agree with your first paragraph. I hate guys like this, who think they're some kind of rebel because they hate some major-label shit but love major-label shit that's just the same as other major-label shit but pretends it isn't.

It's especially hyperbolic when you consider it's a review for a superhero movie, not some Important Drama. Don't get me wrong, I love superheroes and superhero movies—I'm not pulling the "It's just a kid's movie/it's just popcorn junk" line—but it's not, as far as I know, claiming to encapsulate the Meaning of

I loved that episode so, so much.

Well, whatever kind of internet week you've been having (sorry to hear it hasn't been great), I think all of your comments have been interesting and worthwhile. So there. :-)

Is it bad form to reply to your own comment with a follow-up? I had no idea. I usually do an ETA but sometimes I think a reply indicates, like, "Here's an addendum that's less important than my original point but might also be interesting."

Yeah, it was awfully long, and could have done with more editing. We rented it, and took a couple of breaks throughout to get snacks/make dinner/other things people take breaks for, so it was okay for us. But overall we thought it was fun (although Depp was basically an annoyance) with some really exciting and

TRY HARDER. God, do I have to do everything?

But a Secretary is higher-ranking than a Senator, I believe. (Not disagreeing, just mulling over the etiquette issue wrt precedence.)

I have had "Assface" in my head since reading the headline (and all the time when I read Preacher years ago). Assface, honey, that's what you've got…

Damn, that's what happens when I start a reply and then leave it for hours before finishing & posting!
