I’d heard all this gushing about Shallow; this was the first time I actually heard it and I burst out laughing at that last shallalalalalow line. So bad, so corny.

You are not missing anything. The movie was horrendously bad, the chemistry and acting were severely overwrought and it was BORING.

I did not see A Star is Born, so I am probably missing a lot here. I watched the Oscar performance and that song is terrible, and the chemistry between them seemed very put on and fake. If I saw the movie would I become a believer? Would I like that awful song? Is B Coop better at singing in the movie?

I like Miley but as she ages it is getting harder to think she will actually outgrow her love for saying stupid things. Has she ever dated someone who wasn’t attractive? Don’t talk about how you only care for the soul when all those souls seemed to be wrapped in attractive packages.

I am not saying she’s not queer or that being in a straight relationship erases someone’s queer identify, but it doesn’t strike me as “redefining” anything for a generation when someone who has always been publicly in straight relationships has a conventionally straight marriage.

Um, I think it’s amazing that Miley Cyrus is able to look past Liam Hemsworth’s conventional ugliness and fall in love with his beautiful soul. On a spiritual, post-gender level.
