My experience with Low is that some people always like to talk over the music - even when they are the headliners.

the main point original letter was basically “people won’t even look up from their phones to order”.

If you’re at a bar, it’s almost certainly for the communal experience...

If this is a first job (and it sounds like it) why not grocery or retail? Easier to get, lower stakes. Graduate to waiting tables in a year or two.

Yeah exactly. It gets tired to make the comparison, but imagine if the Obama administration had gotten caught commandeering private property for a dumb press conference. We’d hear days and days of criticism about how they were out-of-control dictators.

I feel like lock-ins are still for parties that show up well before close, though. You start at 9:15 when the closing time is 10? Sure, stay and shoot the shit and drink your wine.

Doesn’t matter, though. Even if we agree that your friend “stole” a subsidized education from the taxpayers of North Carolina, there’s a certain % of acceptable loss in that model. That’s just how the typical public uni works.

If the state is paying for your education, why shouldn’t they see some of the benefit?

Wouldn’t it be nice if it became fashionable to hire people who went to state schools? All of these elite institutions like the New York Times could think of the social good they are doing, passing over those who pursued lavish “Cadillac educations” for those who were sensible and mingled with the grubby middle class.

Ugh. NY puts conditions on its Excelsior grant (which they are pretending is “free college” in the state system) - you have to stay in NY for four years after you graduate. You also have to *work* in the state - no commuting to NJ. There’s a waiver for grad school but even after that, you gotta come back, otherwise it

Yeah, I’m not going to listen to this shit all night but things that pop out at me are

Libertarians believe that their white to swing their fists ends where your nose begins.

To be fair he could have done worse. There are all sorts of horrible things that could have come out of his mouth.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that HardForTrump69 is probably joking.

Well there’s two issues, here. One is “do you tip” and the other is “how much.”

Well yeah, the NYT article that precipitated this change said that two thirds of people didn’t tip. (It also noted that many drivers said they preferred Doordash.) Tipping for delivery is not standardized like table service, where most people know what’s “correct.”

Why is that the only word that changes meaning based on the race of who says it? Can’t the word just be considered bad for all?

To me it sounds more like a mudslide (since the milk is in there and it’s being described as frappucino-like.) And, honestly, since random cocktails in a can are popping up all over I have no real problem with a mudslide in a can.  Sounds a little dumb but whatever, somebody apparently wants to have drinks without

Heh, good for you man, how many macadamia nuts do you eat in a typical week?

There are bad doctors, there are bad nurses, there are bad teachers, but we don’t vilify the entire group of those individuals...
