Yeah, half of these shooters are suicidal (and plan to elude punishment by offing themselves) so it’s debatable whether it would serve as a meaningful deterrent.

“Alternative” journalism has always been like this. There’s a sense that no one is too important or too established to be exempt from critique, and if that criticism turns out to be over-stated it’s still better than sucking up all the time.

Fun fact about musicians in today’s economy: My spouse once employed Peter Bauer (bassist for the Walkmen) as a temp. This wasn’t “before they hit it big” - it was after Bows + Arrows!  Though she was a pretty big fan she did not discuss the band with him.

A huge part of lessons is just managing the level of difficulty and finding interesting things to do. I think a lot of lessons just grind forward through things that don’t excite the student and are maybe too challenging too fast.

Yeah, it kind of feels like the free market in action. Some countries have olympic slots they can’t use, so people from other places essentially buy their way in. It’s better than having the requirements being too stringent, I guess.
