Yeah, I love this concept that you have to hire some flamboyant asshole to work for you for a few days and fire a couple of people, because that's how it's "often" done in the business world. Him blabbing a bunch of embarrassing nonsense to the media was a bonus I guess.

Yeah, given the choice between Bandcamp and any other digital platform Bandcamp is almost always the way to go.*

I've never been that moved by "we'll skim a certain % off your purchase" fundraisers, but I do like bandcamp and trust their judgement as to what's a good org to give to.

I think he's assuming that the shark footage had to be part of the show because otherwise this is all too dumb - but maybe in fact it is that dumb?

Yeah, if we did have kids (we don't) that would be a good point. Wouldn't want him influencing any impressionable minds with that horseshit.

Yeah, when I said he was doing it to annoy "the squares" I was intentionally evoking the hippie types of the past.

I have a family member who is into the flat earth, chemtrails, and mass shooting truthering. In one sense it is indeed a pose that means "question everything" and he doesn't take it all literally. (He seems to know, at least, that any one of his assertions might not actually be true.)

Yeah, to circle back to the people who compared it to a religion (with Jones as the smarmy televangelist) - it's not like anybody has found a truly effective way to argue against theism, despite a century of efforts. The best you can hope for is a sea change over time.

Yeah, I think if enough people complain that something is "inedible" or whatever they are going to preemptively tone it down.

Seeing that they met at the hedge fund and both dumped their first spouses, it sounds like that they are possibly both terrible? That kid is fucked.

You must be a man who likes hockets, then.

Shut up Leonard!

Yeah, this reminds me of the last Animal Collective record, also rated low on Pitchfork with lot of complaints here. Pitchfork was right IMO.

If you look at the details, the whole McCain thing was pretty fucked. It's hard to admire someone who seems to be playing games with the fate of health care in this country.

How long before Spicer is quoted saying "Yeah, this is why I didn't want to work with this guy."

Whuh? Is it?

One of my first religious film experience was Barton Fink, man. It kind of ruined the rest of the Coens' films for me, for a while, because I expected them to all be Barton Fink II: The Finkening. (Like, I really hated The Big Lebowski the first time I saw it.)

I walked past Hank Azaria on the sidewalk just the other day. He looked preoccupied, like he was rehearsing an argument with somebody in his head.

It strikes me that it's really only a distraction for the base, as he potentially loses on health care reform in the senate. They get a new story about him doing something they like and they can ignore how pathetic the legislative effort has been.

But it is not actually the crux of his argument at all. It's a cover for the real argument, which is that transgender people are "disruptive" because they are weird and they want special treatment. That was also in the tweet and that's what conservatives are actually repeating over and over online.
