See, it worked for me, since we had seen him grow and change in the therapy scenes, but that moment, when he says, “Yeah, I know,” you can see that he is still tossing off that statement as though it were a platitude. But when RW’s character keeps repeating it, making him actually hear the words being said, it changes

Gayffindor might be my favorite.

I actually really enjoyed Dirk Gently, particularly the second season, although it was more of, as you say, accepting it as its own thing rather than as Dirk Gently.

(This is completely off topic, but I just finished binge-watching Halt and Catch Fire and wanted to thank you for your thoughtful reviews! I really enjoyed reading them as I went along.)

Vimes is.....just not even close. He is probably my favorite character in all of Pratchettdom, though, so kind of a high bar. And the actor looks right (minus eyeliner), but that attitude just doesn’t seem very Vimesian. I agree with others that the Patrician seems fine. Carrot should be hotter. Angua seems fine. The

The cassette of this soundtrack was the first time I really listened to music other than what my parents listened to, and I listened to it A LOT.

I was an 80s teenage girl who loved both Star Wars and Dirty Dancing, but I can kind of see this.

Doing a binge watch of this show for the first time, and this episode. Man, this episode. I lost my dad suddenly 22 years ago, and this show captured the strange days that follow a family death with heartbreaking accuracy. I teared up several times during the episode, at all the moments mentioned above.

That’s almost all I can think about in that scene! I would be flying ass over teakettle if I tried that.

I absolutely loved this movie when it came out. I’m not sure if I saw it more than once at the theatre, but I definitely owned the VHS of it and watched it a hell of a lot. Hits right at that sweet spot of destruction=fun, and I had major crushes on Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum, and Harry Connick Jr., so that helped with

I agree re: Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum. That scene after the big final battle when they are both swaggering back smoking cigars was . . . I dunno, but I still think about it from time to time. They were magic together. I even misread the line in the review talking about megawatt charisma as being about Goldblum,

Watched this with my mom and we almost died laughing. Daniel Craig is an absolute hoot, but I also have a soft spot for Adam Driver’s morose mumbling. I do agree with another commenter that it could probably use a bit of an edit, but I still enjoyed it immensely. Coen connection is clear. This is basically

I was in my freshman year of college when this came out, and I forced my entire family to go see it. It took some convincing, since my parents were understandably loathe to go see a cartoon when they didn’t have small children anymore. But I kept shouting “But it’s gonna be amazing! A technological miracle!” I think

I have never, in my life, bought Peeps at any time other than Easter. Is this really that much of a thing?

I had an uncle-in-law whose last name was Dick. He had a brother named Harry.

I’m feeling really stupid right now, because I love Robin Hobb but I had no idea she was also Megan Lindholm and now I have so many books to read.

Yes, I have watched Schindler’s List a number of times, for this exact reason. It is just so beautifully made that, despite being extremely depressing, it still awakens something in me every time I watch it, like a kind of catharsis generator.

That’s what I mean, her hand is so far away! Like I said, hair whipping about when you are shooting an arrow is probably not a great idea, even if it looks dramatic. (I only ever did archery at Girl Scout camp, so I am far from an expert, but that photo was still distracting.)

That’s all I could think of, looking at that picture. Pretty sure she needs to have her right hand right next to her eye so she can aim. Probably had to do it this way so she wouldn’t get her hair caught in the fletching. This is why female warriors should have their damn hair pulled back.

I can’t possibly agree any more. I love Gambon as Dumbledore, and everyone’s obsession with this scene “being too different from the book!!” always seemed ridiculous. I thought he was great, as you said, a little dangerous and disreputable. Richard Harris was somnambulant.
