I hate myself for laughing at this.

I love this monologue so much. It is the thing I remember most about this movie. It just goes on and on and on and on!

Music is ever built on piggybacking, and sometimes downright copying, and has been for centuries. These claims are ridiculous. Chord progressions are often the same, since western music has pretty strict ideas on what sounds “good” and what does not.

I did notice a depressing tendency, when watching the extras on various Pixar and Disney films, for nearly every member of the team to be a man. I mean, everyone. Maybe one woman. So this is disappointing, but not surprising.

I saw the show in Columbus, and it was the most I have ever laughed at anything, ever. I really enjoyed it, is what I’m saying. I did get to meet Joel before the show, but having him actually join it is going to be awesome.

I have been going to the USGS site every day to look for new pictures and videos, it has really been fascinating. I like to open a google maps page of the affected area, and you can really see just how much the coastline has been affected. Kapoho Bay is completely gone. There is a blue house at the northern edge of

Ugh, this is despicable. I hope she gets a shit ton of money out of this. I didn’t even want my own husband filming me giving birth. I can’t even imagine someone broadcasting something so intensely personal without my consent. Again I say, ugh.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE.

I have been watching the videos and keeping track of the maps over at the USGS site, this eruption has been so fascinating and terrible. I can’t get over the fact that an entire bay disappeared under lava, plus all the houses surrounding it. Looking at the island on Google maps and then the lava flow maps and videos.

Some of these are hilarious! “More than a Trash Panda” really got me, but the best was, of course, “More than a Friend of Doug’s.”

Oh I agree that the idea of keeping a man essentially “caged” is truly terrible. I just was talking about how the show itself tried to stay within strict lines. But yes, the movie the Truman Show definitely points that finger at society. So I guess the argument could be, regardless of whether or not a person is aware

I recently rewatched this movie with my kids, and my god does it hold up. It is just as wonderful now as it was when it came out. All the performances are great, and the structure of the thing is so complex.

My personal favorite moment of Mr. Rogers reducing a grown woman to jelly: When he sings “It’s You I Like” to Joan Rivers. The man was magical.

Yeah, that would probably help. However, I have three kids, so I have learned how to load my dishwasher to the absolute limit and still get everything clean.

I am the person who completely rearranges everything in the dishwasher after others have loaded, muttering incoherently under my breath. The spooning spoons thing in particular drives me mad. But of course, that is why you shouldn’t load silverware by type. If your forks and knives are all hanging out together, that

Clean the filters! It makes an amazing difference. They are usually pretty easy to reach, but depending on how much greasy stuff you put in your dishwasher, can be a pain to get totally clean. I use a scrub brush on mine.

It’s like Sophie’s Choice except that instead of picking one to save and one to die, you pick one to go and five to resent you for the rest of your life.

I cried through the entire descent through the atmosphere in Gravity, that’s for dang sure. Big weepy sobs, not just tasteful tears. It was like some weird combination of emotional catharsis and “Holy Shit this is amazing!” So I totally get that one.

That is a truly terrible stock image, if that’s what it is. Looks like ET found a phone.

Man, I’m going to miss this crazy-ass show. These two episodes were perfectly delightful, and it just makes the cancellation that much harder to take. I am, fortunately, in the position of being a new viewer this season, so I haven’t even seen most of it, but knowing there is no more is just depressing. I have really
