I just moved. These are my new checks.

Another member of the Dead Dad Club here. Two thoughts:

When I got my master’s degree my husband took me out to a fancy dinner. When he made the reservation he told them we were celebrating ‘a master’s degree’. When we checked in, the hostess immediately turned to him to offer her congratulations. Same thing with our waiter. AND THIS WAS IN BERKELEY.

Ordered :)

Not as bad, but:

I married into a purely Irish family & have a simple email featuring my (their) last name. I get a LOT of misdirected Irish emails, but nothing cool so far. Just banks & nurses & mortgage scammers.

He's the only beefcake for me.

I watched my dad slowly (over 9 months) die of a brain tumor. There was definitely a point where he stopped living and was just alive. I wish we could have helped him die then, rather than linger.

It was awesome. We figured the wedding was just for people who were going to truly be a part of our married life. It was beautiful, intimate, and fancy. Wouldn't change a thing.

Approx 25k in Monterey/Carmel, December 2003. It was small & fancy, only 17 guests. Still going strong 11 years later- no apologies, no regrets!

We also did a formal faux-posal and fancy meal, but I don't even remember the month, let alone the date! Then again, we've been known to forget our actual wedding anniversary. We're not formal people.

Most beautiful wedding I ever attended- groom's family owned a vineyard, string quartet, 5 course meal with wine pairings- ended in divorce 2 years later.

Two thoughts.

My sister's boyfriend called me last week to ask my permission to propose. He's a sweet guy, and I know they'll be very happy, but my honest reaction was 'She's 34- the only permission you need is hers!'

About $25k. 11 years in, 2 kids, things are great! So phooey on statistics.

same

I haaaaaated Cordelia Foxx- couldn't disagree more. Most boring main character in the whole series. I wanted to smack her, every week. I saw it much more as feud ex machina for the storyline than an actual redemption.

Agreed! I wanted so badly to love Coven because there were some really incredible characters in there, but the storyline was just flat. I think Murder House was great, but Asylum really pushed way further and was the pinnacle of the series. Freak Show was terrible. I mean, I watched it, but it was just bad.

My sons have made me a master of the fireman's carry. I feel you.

My post-doc year was a time of a lot of transition for me. My husband and I were preparing to move out of the state we both grew up in, which was a strain on our marriage. I was chief resident of my department at a hospital, and managing some of my colleagues was a challenge. Near the end of the year this built up to
