I’m going to read the NY Times article, because from what Emily wrote I still don’t really get ‘cult,’ other than - yes - agree with you, Catholicism really is a giant cult.

GAH I had nuns on the mind and read this as Christopher Plummer lol.

Considering her name is still common shorthand for someone who’s pure and selfless and beyond reproach, I’d say most people don’t know what she was really up to.
