She was clearly referencing the fact that—if artists (and perhaps historians) didn’t tell the stories like the one told in Fences—about the every day lives of working class black people—those stories wouldn’t get told. (And often still don’t get told).

I’m pretty sure she was referencing the fact that lives of the characters in Fences—working class black people before civil rights—wouldn’t get told if not through art.

For my part, I think what she said is very true. Particularly when it comes to telling the stories of people who have been marginalized in history. Who else, other than historians, are telling the stories of working class black families just living their lives (and not being slaves—or being beaten in the civil rights

It’s making me ragey.

Here’s how Barry Jenkins, the director of Moonlight, felt about Horowitz’s conduct:

It won’t matter now. . . .But I intend to keep a record of every single misdeed the motherfuckers commit.

Yep, you summed it up perfectly.

I know I *need* to—but I’m finding it impossible. Not a great time to have compulsivity issues.

Here is something to keep in mind—that I think is very important.

I kind of think it was incorrect of this article to say they are stuck in a “coma”—particularly with POLITICO as their source. (Politico can post some interesting stuff—but also a lot of bullshit—like this). Often Politico’s headlines don’t represent the content of their articles at all—they can be very
