All of the people who are getting on you are not really thinking about just how complicated this case is—nor are they thinking about the slippery slope of legal precedent. I’m not saying I’m against the verdict. I’m just saying that anyone who puts some thought into this will have complicated feelings. For the record,

It’s actually a really complicated case. If you don’t get that, that’s okay.

As someone else has already pointed out, Trump also GUTTED Obama’s “Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces” Executive Order on Monday. I’m shocked this isn’t getting more coverage.

I can see why you would think this was a possibility. . . . But, I don’t think it’s the case—mostly because of the context of how they talked about the dick— “seduction . . .” “OOOO LA LA FULL FRONTAL” etc.—without talking about the context (an attempted rape). I saw this same thing after the rape scene in

Yes. Yes. And Yes. I do feel badly for coal miners who have lost their jobs and coal-based communities that are in decline—BUT—there are many ways to help them. Interestingly, one of the programs Trump wants to cut in his budget does exactly that—trains coal miners in other jobs, sends them to college, etc.

Never underestimate the Daily Mail. . . .

Yes—I think this can help women. But many of us are not taught this—so when the rape or assault does occur—we are left in a sea of self-doubt and self-blame. And then the self-doubt and self-blame becomes augmented by the fact that we didn’t report. I wasn’t taught what “real rape” was—nor was I taught to stand up for

Sometimes I kind of like Graham. Because he’s funny and seems like he has principles (misguided though I believe some of them are). But then he posted this on Friday:

The dirt on Manafort is substantial at this point. My fingers are crossed the Intel community will turn him. But, at the same time, he’s spectacularly evil, so I am not sure that it makes any sense to try to predict his behavior.

Wasn’t a fan of the piece overall, but I DID love all the Bannon parts. . . . he basically keeps emerging from the shadows to talk about how he doesn’t need friends and wants to destroy the world.

Check out Jane Mayer’s deep dive into the Mercers in this week’s New Yorker. . . . I haven’t read it yet, but it’s sure to be excellent.

Being on seizure medication doesn’t eliminate the possibility of having a seizure. Seizure disorders are more complex than that.

Also on the chopping block? NIH funding, NIH programs to train nurses, programs to re-train displaced coal-miners, money to heat poor people’s houses. . . .These people are so fucking evil.

I support this change! People who discriminate & marginalize never deserve the term “radical.”

You are correct. Mostly because no US bank would loan to him after his multiple bankruptcies. So most of the money that has been loaned to him over the years is definitely from foreign sources. A GIGANTIC case in point would be the massive payment just made to Kushner for his New York Property sinkhole.

Agreed. I do think it’s important to cite scientific evidence—because the science IS there and can be somewhat illuminating. . .but, at the end of the day, it shouldn’t be the core argument—and, you’re absolutely right—it too often becomes the center of attention. A lot like when people argue (less so these days) that

I’d never heard the term “TERF” before—but, yes, that sounds very appropriate here. These women are continuing the WORST traditions of feminism. And, by being so exclusionary, by trying to delineate what specific experiences, body type, etc. one must have to be a “woman,” they’re really not being feminist at all. Yuck.

I can’t figure out how to respond to this. . . .you seem to be bringing up a lot of stuff that has nothing to do with my original message to you. For example: I never called you cis-gendered—nor did I say that anyone should be able to invalidate your experience. . . .As a woman who’s been raped, bullied, etc., I have

You spoke and—like moths to a flame— they came. I feel like there will always be cisgender white people who LOVE bringing up Rachel Dolezal b/c it provides them with the chance to marginalize the experiences of black people and trans people ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

Well, scientists from all fields don’t typically get together and issue “official positions.” And I’m not sure what you mean by the “trans question.”
