You are so right. After the AP’s report on Wikileaks publishing people’s personal information (like sexual orientation, mental health issues, virgin on wedding night or not?), it was amazing to see BOTH Green partiers AND Alt-righters converge upon the exact same conspiracy theories online: “The AP is in the pocket of…
I got taught about consent when I was 15! Our male history teacher taught sex ed (totally qualified for the job!) and he told us that sometimes girls wear short skirts and flirt on dates and then date rape happens because of crossed signals. He used to be a cop so he knew what he was talking about.
I’m a rape victim*** and it took me years before I was comfortable talking about it with friends (let alone family—and I’ve only told my mother—after which we never spoke about it again).
As others have pointed out, Arizona is in play (which is AWESOME). What I can’t figure out is Illinois. . . . .although there is a pivotal senate race there this year. Maybe they tried infiltrating multiple systems and Arizona and Illinois were the ones that worked out best for them.
A FALSE BERNER? LOL. I am so sorry. Sounds like we have had similar experiences. . . . I also voted for Bernie in the primary, donated to him, etc. But, now it’s like all the “true believers” have become a bunch of conspiracy theorists (and Jill Stein’s thoughtless, noxious campaign is not helping). Last week, when AP…
I feel like you’re trying to be smart, but it’s not working out very well for you.
Indeed. I am not pro-intervention, but I am pro-humanitarian intervention, and there is a point at which, if we claim to care about people at all, we need to have a serious conversation about when/how to intervene and whether such intervention will alleviate or intensify the longterm suffering of the Syrian people. I…
I’m worried they’re going to just play up the angle of “Her top aide is married to a pervert who took a picture with his child.” I can already hear “two year old child” over and over and over again. As if Huma (and HRC) are somehow guilty by association. . . .
God, I hope so. I’m not even that worried about her sucking votes away from HRC. I just hate it that people think she’s some kind of progressive hero.
A smug prank who is polling at 3-4% nationally, unfortunately.
I’m seeing a lot of pro-Assad themes in the Greens/Dumber-Side-of-the-Progressive Left this season. And it’s definitely driven by Stein’s rhetoric. It’s fucking pissing me off.
The thing that pisses me off the most about her is the idiocy she is breeding about Syria. I keep seeing these threads from her about how what we need to do in Syria is PEACE. I’m not saying I don’t want peace in Syria. But these asshats are treating an extremely complex problem as if it is both morally and…
YES! THIS. Jill Stein is a terrible figurehead for the progressive movement—she may be “left,” but she’s thoughtless and reactionary.
Jill Stein likes to say that the green party can ONLY run in local elections if they run in presidential years. I am fairly certain, after looking at ballot access laws, this is untrue.
Dude, you’re all over the place. I was just gonna let you say your peace—but, this argument just makes no sense.
I think we will have to agree to disagree on the finer points of this one.
What?
One thing that makes me uncomfortable is that Gabrielle Union has been raped. If she knew about Parker’s past and was still okay with being directed by him, that’s one thing. But if she didn’t know. . . . . I just can’t.
I disagree with this. . . . .Mainstream movies usually have some kind of strict plot (action/romance/mystery, etc)—but there are many character-driven independent films out there featuring white people just living their lives as people—and I think that’s what they’re getting at. It’s not just about looking at art. But…
