LOL You’re calling my IQ into question? Good on you for keeping the middle-school playbook close at hand.

what does this even mean?

Nobody who is not black has the right to talk about “self-hating black [people].” Just like no Jewish person has the right to say “self-hating Jew” or no man has the right to say “self-hating women” or no straight person has the right to say “self-hating gay person.” I think the whole issue of “self-hating” is myopic

. . . . a self hating black guy

Did he just argue that he is anti-racist, after he completely dismissed everything you said, called you a “tit,” and then proceed to call you “Honey-Bun?” Wtf. White people like this are a bigger part of the problem, in my opinion, than the fringe who fully embrace their racism, because they allow the status quo to

Thanks for this. It’s good that you’ve learned something. I’m not saying this to be condescending. But just because I have also learned a lot about white privilege—especially my own— on this site.

then I don’t think you get what racism is.

I didn’t actually mean to post that about you—I thought the OP was talking about Joseph Fiennes. Though, I do think the point could apply to your comments—I just wouldn’t have been that snarky to a commenter here. The thing is—you’re not showing respect. I’m not trying to sound harsh here, which is hard not to do,

I know. . . .I don’t want to seem like I am an all-adoring fan, but, I can’t help but feel really, really, really sorry for him.

Just wanted to lend you some support here: this commenter does not understand the state of racism in American society. I do not claim to understand it fully either. But anyone who acts as if this kind of shit is symmetrical really doesn’t understand anything about inequality.

Yeah. . . . .this isn’t one of those issues that is “flippable.” For so many reasons. . . . .And, really, when we’re talking about ANYTHING that has to do with race, there is so little symmetry in our society that you can’t really treat this stuff like it would be the same if it went the other direction.

He probably would have voted for Obama too, if he were American. And he probably cried at the end of 12 Years a Slave. He also has two black friends. And he thinks Martin Luther King, was like, the Greatest. So, he’s not participating in any institutionalized racism. BECAUSE HE LOVES BLACK PEOPLE.

Also: it would be difficult to find ANY actor who looks remotely like Jackson did in 2001. I really do not want to criticize Jackson’s appearance or be snarky here—just to say that, at that point, he’d had such significant plastic surgery that filmmakers would have to use a ton of prosthetics anyway. In this sense,

It’s so disgusting on so many levels. . . . it’s hard to even put into words.

Even then. . . . I don’t get them. I’m a b-cup on my best days and all those things do is flatten me out.

Exactly. I think the establishment has given up entirely on Iowa. And they’re looking for a strong 2nd or 3rd in NH. That does away with the adage of you have to win Iowa OR New Hamphire in order to win it all—but that’s basically what they’ve got to work with now. I’m betting Bush is under some intense pressure to

Exactly. Ideally (for the party), a couple would drop out after Iowa, but that seems unlikely. Some pundits, like David Brooks, seem to feel that Rubio is their shot. . . . .but Rubio is not a true moderate and is extremely behind in endorsements. He’s likely to have a 3rd place finish in Iowa, 3/4 in New Hampshire,

It makes me think that the republican establishment may be coalescing behind Kasich. . . . . He got an endorsement from the Boston Globe today as well. Right now, beyond Iowa, we’re looking at a 4 to 5-way split between Cruz, Rubio, Christie, Jeb, and Kasich in New Hamphire. I’m thinking that the GOP establishment may

I’m seriously doubtful they are. Their behavior is totally out of whack with his progressive views on women’s rights—and the MULTITUDE of times when he has said that he respects Secretary Clinton and wants to treat her with respect during the campaign.

Not a fan of Clinton. But the level of absolute hatred for her (usually espoused in pretty immature/misogynistic terms) is REALLY GETTING STUCK IN MY CRAW—and is actually making me uncomfortable about being a Bernie Supporter. Bernie Fans: we should take a cue from Bernie’s playbook and try to be respectful and
