No. . . . .I kinda slipped through the cracks. . . . .which has been an uphill battle. And not the hard sciences like bio or chem. But a field that involves cognitive neuroscience. I’m not entirely sure how it happened myself. Sometimes, I find myself looking at some brain data and I’m like, WAIT A HOT SECOND I CAN’T

I’m writing this because you’re obviously being sarcastic—guys: NonServiam is being sarcastic.

I did my BA and MA in the humanities and am now working on my PhD in the sciences. My field is not so much a “boy’s club” (there are a lot of women in it)—but, man, I have never been condescended to like this in my life. A lot of my male professors are great—but some are insufferable. And the worst: my male peers. I

This seems like pretty problematic criticism to me. A bunch of white dudes in high power positions screwed people over. Why should this be re-cast?

THIS. I’ve heard all the characters in the movie are pretty despicable. And based on real-life-white-dudes who fucked people over. I’m not sure that needs to be recast—because, really, it’s kind of the point.

“older married elected DA who also combs his hair back in public and calls adult female murder victims ‘little girls’”

Yeah, that distinction is really important and a lot of people don’t seem to be getting it. We definitely saw enough evidence that he did not receive a fair trial. I don’t think any of us saw enough to say w/ any real conviction that he’s not guilty or guilty.

I think that’s a good point. . . . .after the doctors reached a certain age—and maturity—it felt silly just throwing one romantic subplot at them after another (Not saying people over the age of 35 can’t have romantic subplots! Just that they got kind of tired—and, really, it was hard to find someone who had the

That’s good to hear! I’ll try it out again.

The first 2 seasons of Grey’s Anatomy are awesome. Next time you’re sick (or just want to binge)—you should totally watch them.

Yes to all of this. He objectified her and basically was like, “MEDIA, SENSATIONALIZE THIS PLEASE.” All while ensuring that her death might not be fully investigated and those accused of it would not receive a fair trial. It would have been much better for Theresa’s whole family if Kratz and the sheriff’s department

He has, like, literally, the exact same voice as my psychiatrist. Freaks me the fuck out.

Agreed—the documentary didn’t convince me that he was “innocent”—as this article suggests was the impact on most viewers. . . . .but it did convince me that, unless the footage was MAJORLY skewed in some unbelievable way that 1) the police f’ed up the procedures in investigating the case and 2) he didn’t receive a

Yeah. . . . .it’s actually pretty crazy. as a lifelong democrat + Alaskan—when I saw them announce her as a vice presidential candidate, I was like, “Oh shit, we’re screwed.” (Meaning democrats in the national race). She really was not reviled by democrats in Alaska. And actually seemed to put her ideology second? I

I don’t know. . . . It seems like a lot of people just found out after the Sony Hack. . . of course it does seem ludicrous that it would take that hack to enlighten people—and that the info wasn’t out there already in some other form.

I’m disappointed in this apology. Mostly for the emphasis on “misunderstanding.” I’m not sure how her original comment “I wish I were African American” could be misunderstood? I was ready to cut her some slack if she owned up to the mistake, but she hasn’t.

Agreed. I’m from Alaska and the general feeling there—before 2008—was not, “WOW, what a wackadoodle lady!”

Now playing

As an Alaskan who was there while she was governor. . . . she has definitely gotten crazier. She crazied it up for the 2008 election. . . .and, yes, now she is even more incoherent. It seemed like she was high on helium the whole time. It could be that she was actually high—or something—or that being a right-wing

Thanks! I think I’m going to download the audiobook . . . but was uncertain about whether to do so before/after the series. But I’m sure the book contains a lot of info the show will skip over.

Is this book worth reading? I really like Jeffrey Toobin—but didn’t even know he wrote this book.
