Bad reactions to people using they in a singular form is on the person having a bad reaction to it, not the author of the article using it correctly.
“They” has been in use as a singular pronoun for longer in English than the pronoun “you” has existed. Literally hundreds of years.

Most of us in the US get 0 days off for maternal leave. Leave for the other parent, if any, isn’t even a whisper of an idea in most places here. You’re expected to take a ‘sick day’ for giving birth and then show right back up to work.
Sounds like all of these ‘solutions’ are just profiteering and trying to sell a product, increase the police and surveillance state, and not actually attempt to even address the societal issues that will continue causing these events to happen.
