There are two coaches inside of you...
Two issues into this run and I am already hungry for more. The slightly different focus, while still honouring what has been done and established before, makes it stand out nicely, and there’s been several brilliant touches so far (MK weaponising the fact that his brain has been fundamentally changed/damaged... not by…
“Not MY face!” he exclaimed.
I kind of hope that ALL the Shang-Chi films are subtitled “...the Legend of...”.
...and once again we’re overlooked.
It’s definitely the worst part of the movie for me, with Dinlage’s stunt-casting (and over-acting) and the random sci-fi nonsense about restarting the dying star using... friction, I guess?... but what really confuses me is that there’s a scene wayyyyyyy back in Ultron where Thor goes on another side-quest, and ends…
Lots of people, myself included, criticise Thor’s bloated side-quest as being the worst part of the movie.
No, WE are Groot.
“If someone tells us not to do something, then we’ll do it,”
I’ve had a “pitch” in my head for a long time that’s based on the idea that although Superman’s villains are dangerous... it’s the danger they represent to the people around him, to the people in general, which should be the focus, not the danger to Supes himself.
I mean, Peacemaker = Drax, King Shark = Groot, and so on, is a pretty clear comparison (not 1:1 by any means, but shows Gunn taking his best ideas from other movies and repurposing them for this one - which is no bad thing!).
But... where are Tandy and the gang?
One day, hopefully not too far away, I propose that we’ll all have to refer to him as “Oscar winning actor Brendan Fraser” and it will be richly deserved.
I like how they’re being faithful to the comics by already falling into the trap of every story being Venom vs another symbiote (which, to be clear, is down to them inexplicably having the big bad of the first movie be a generic “evil mirror of the good guy” cliche... I mean, c’mon guys, if you want to build to…
I was hoping it would be more like “Excaibur”
Easily one of my most anticipated movies of the year, and I’m actually reassured to hear it sticks to the “dreamlike weirdness” vibe I was getting from some of the trailers. Can’t wait to see it.
It’s a little weird that Disney followed The Force Awakens with another Star Wars story built around a tiny, young white British lady.
While it didn’t “bother” me, as such (though I’ll admit there are potential implications for the future that are... bothersome) I do feel like it still would have been better if he’d only been seen, and heard, from behind, with his face simply reflected in the window. The longer he’s onscreen the more the movie dips…
That would be better.
