I mean, yeah, they avoid getting hit by drivers who don’t slow down in time, but that risk comes right back in the form of drivers changing lanes in traffic who aren’t looking for a motorcycle zipping up between lanes.

have you considered a checkbook?

Before committing, mentally add the required mirrors, markers, signals, and wheel arch clearance.

Range is too garbage for the US unless you live in a bubble city and never leave. 125 miles (more like 75 after appropriate losses and realistic driving) is just not enough.

So, video screens in the cockpit instead of door mirrors.

First Gear. I think car sales slow down has to happen. Even with a good economy.

Does it strike you as ironic that the title of the article is openly admitting bias, that the writers have a specific point of view with admittedly very little evidence? A direct antipathy of journalistic integrity, i.e. we’ve reached a conclusion without the facts, help us prove it, and yet you attack someone for

The surge fares- new and old- always screw the riders.

Accusing Kinja blog of any kind of journalism is hilarious.

Always screw the riders...? Coreect me if I’m wrong, but at any time they feel like they are going to get screwed, the “riders” can voluntarily choose to remain “walkers" can't they?

This war against Uber as the enemy of everything we hold dear is getting tiresome. We get it, Jalopnik is pro union and anti-corporate.

I was literally about to write this. I submitted over 10-15 rides that show Uber takes between 1-33%. I crush it in DC and most drivers make way more then the authors of these articles. But fake news or skewed news or BAD news is all the rage today. They are tryin to “f*ck” up our jobs. For dumb reasons

Nailed it. “Help me prove my opinion is right!” is a great way to start a data study.

It is not in Uber or Lyft’s economic interest to encourage people to find other ways to travel. Surge pricing was always billed as the carrot to get more drivers on the street to carry the waiting passengers.

No no no...They will get receipts from drivers who are making good money, but when they go to write the article, they will not show them. It’s called a bias. It is all the rage in the media these days.

Absolutely right, it’s called Voluntary Response Bias

I feel like you’re only getting receipts from drivers who feel like they got screwed with this change. I’m betting you didn’t get any receipts from drivers where Uber lost money on a fare because they paid a sticky surge to the driver even though the passenger did not pay a fare.

They called it the Mazda THREE - they knew what they were doing...
