Eh, I’d say that was true for most of the US but not Texas. There are plenty of highways in Texas with 80-85 mph speed limits where people commonly cruise over 100. The county highways are flat, straight, and there are not any people or police to worry about so it is almost autobahn speeds.

You’re missing the entire point of it. Which is that it’s a 356 limousine. Turning it back into a regular 356 removes the unique and interesting factors. That’s like removing the golden plating from the James Bond Golden Gun.

How the heck does this thing move under its own power with that 1500 bug engine?

The fact that this collection wasn’t called the Garaj Mahal is the most disappointing part of this story.

“Europe” covers a wide area. Even in Germany I have driven on roads that would make you think you are in NJ. Mostly in the East, of course.

I can say from experience that in low-80s temps in Germany, hotel A/C doesn’t do diddly. 100+ would suuuuuck.

I am not a civil engineer, but I would imagine that the roads in Texas are built to a spec that considers >100°F temperatures whereas the ones in Germany are not.

The problems never happen in places that are used to having high heat, like Texas. They happen in places like Minnesota which aren’t used to lots of 100 degree plus weather. Five days over 100 in Minneapolis is deadly heat wave, whereas five days over 100 in Dallas is an average week in summer (roughly speaking).

Really?  I mean that was probably true in the 80s when I was growing up - most beachside communities the homes didn’t have AC but inland cities did.  But from the 90s onward, I don’t know anyone without AC who doesn’t live in a shithole apartment.

I mean I guess changing the grille from horizontal to vertical *does* count as radical design change for Audi, who are only second to their corporate cousin Porsche in the laziest design gruppe.

Those safety sensors and radars look SO dumb in the grille... “if we just make them black, they’ll blend in perfectly.”

This guy’s got a one-track mind.

Pfft, When I was a “kid” with a manual I could eat a big mac while drinking a beer Coke in stop and go traffic. It’s also why god gave us knees and GF’s to steer for us. Texting with a manual is just one more skill for kids to perfect. They are creative creatures.

Take your star.  Subaru’s new vehicle class, the HoVa

Subaru’s internal report said it wanted to “break out of the bottom” and improve to 101 problems in 2019, then move up to “middle ranking,” with 90 problems in 2020. But in the 2019 results, released last week, it finished seventh from the bottom, with 113 problems.

Thing is...traction is tire and weight dependant. I’ve im going down some impossibly steep tall muddy hillside many miles from civilization (something I do frequently but would be be undertaken by most DAC equipped vehicles) then I would rather to the braking myself with engine braking and a light foot.

Sure, smoothness, adjustability...who cares? I’ve tried using it once on my GX470 that actually sees some off-roading. Once. It’s a gimmick to wow new car buyers and journos

Midway (Utah)?

You may say too many vents but in an Alabama summer there is no such thing as too many vents, they could stick a window unit in the center stack for all I care so long as it blasts a lot of cold air.

I had the chance to drive one for work, and the F1 transmission did not disappoint
