If federal senators were elected by district, Franken would have never held elected office unless his district fully encompassed the Twin Cities. He only won by 300 votes statewide.

The only thing in politics in 2019 that would be tangibly changed if Franken was still around is that we’d have another candidate polling at 1-2% in the Dem primary. And the Republicans would have another thing to “whatabout” about whenever one of their own does something bad.

When you’re a big time local basketball star, school becomes an afterthought around 7th grade. Your high school teachers will pass you through everything because they don’t wanna be the ones to hold you back from going to the league. And the year they spent in college... lol. 

Because he could have had cheap-as-free courtside seats to as many NBA games as he wanted for at least the next 10 years, but now that he went public either the NBA will shut it down or there’ll be so many copycats that he won’t be able to pull this off anymore.

Having a body in that seat is better for the TV image than seeing an empty seat courtside, so the team probably doesn’t care all that much since the actual season ticketholder already paid for the seat. I don’t think the Warriors get money from the Stubhub sale anyway.

the people who voted for the asshole explicitly did it because they like that “he tells it like it is”, or “he says what other people are too afraid to”. When that’s their reason for liking the guy, they don’t also get to claim he’speaking in some top-secret code that only the chosen few understand.

I’m convinced these people honestly think that the Republican Party is a fugazi that Democrats invented to try to pass blame on why they don’t get everything they want. They always seem to forget that the Republican Party is a real political force in America and at the moment they have a ton of power.

I never really listened to him on the radio, but his TV show with his dad and Bomani just isn’t my brand of humor. If you cut out all the time where the panelists are just uproariously laughing and only aired the parts where someone was speaking, the show would only be about 14 seconds long.
