This is not right. I know every line from the Bee Movie.
No one ever acheived a victory against fascism or racism by accommodating them or attempting to reason with them. They’re unreasonable people that want to reshape the world to the detriment of anyone who doesn’t look like them, and doesn’t think like them.
Buttoning his jacket makes him look fat.
She’s no Carla!
17 million volunteers in hundreds of thousands of communities is not a movement? Giving to local charities in regions where there is disaster or conflict is a great idea, but sometimes, the scale of an operation needs something more. Without huge international operations by the Red Cross, MSF and Save the Children,…
You may think that about the American Red Cross, but there is much more to the ‘movement’ than a single national society.
Don’t forget to twist. They love a little twist!
Grabbing a colleague by the genitals is sexual assault, a fact which is seemingly understood by everyone but von Keyserling, the President Elect of the USA, his entourage and almost 48% of voters. #ftfy
I read it when it came out thanks. And this too. http://www.redcross.org/news/press-release/American-Red-Cross-Responds-to-Recent-ProPublica-Report-on-Haiti
Why is the woman at the top stretching her face back like that?
There used to be a UK Bon Jovi tribute act called By Jovi.
If you’re a volunteer medic in a conflict situation, it’s far more than a friggin red coloured cross, it’s potentially the only thing standing between you and being dead. I understand that it may seem trivial, but it’s not; misuse leads to a devaluing of the impact of the emblem and a misunderstanding of what it…
The Red Cross emblem is simply a colour inversion of the Swiss flag. It was never intended as a religious symbol - in fact impartiality and neutrality are two of the fundamental principles of the movement - the crescent was adopted as a cultural signifier for majority muslim nations that may have had issues with a…
Yeah fuck ‘em and all the efforts they made to treat people with Ebola and prevent it from spreading beyond West Aftica. Fuck ‘em for providing shelter for hundreds of thousands of people who lost their homes in natural disasters last year. Fuck ‘em for all that pointless work around HIV and polio and malaria and…
They don’t really ‘go after’ anyone, but most national societies will raise issues with people as and when they arise. It’s inconsistent because different societies have different resources available.
Who’s sued? The British Red Cross has simply asked a developer not to use a protected symbol and explained why it’s important. The developer (hopefully) took this on board and changed the emblem. Some unreasonable people (I’ve met one or two in my day job) take the view that they can do whatever they want with these…
Why annoying? It has protected uses in the real world. It’s a trivial matter to use some other symbol for health in a game.
The Japanese Red Cross also runs many of the hospitals in Japan, so a red cross on a hospital is logical.
After the earthquake in Haiti, the Red Cross started building homes for survivors. After consultation with local leaders, it was decided that building new homes in areas where there were issues with land ownership and a right of return may not be the best use of funds, so they diverted their efforts to other kinds of…
