Vignette is a better camera app than Instagram. Better filters, faster on the S2, nicer borders and more control.

When I was teaching, tone was really important. I could see myself losing the students if my voice started droning. A slight change of tone and pace was always a good thing.

The shushing trick apparently works with everyone - but only once.

Potter USA has already been done. It was Wizards of Waverly Place when the annoying kids decamped to Wiztech college for wizards.

@155: That makes perfect sense. Should they continue to provide support after support is no longer needed, just to use up the funds? Or should they reprioritise based on the needs of others?

In the UK, there are a number of different charities running specific appeals for Japan.

@c010rb1indusa: But if you don't have one of these and someone sends you an iWork file...

The argument is not about archaic practices (ie, we should abandon QWERTY) but that modern software takes care of the differences between spaces and sentences. Also, students who are digital natives still add the double space.

Beyond the usual stuff, there was also a pretty interesting subtext to the episode. Sardick snr is a stand in for Rupert Murdoch who is preparing his naive son for the eventual takeover of controlling the sky (Murdoch's TV station in the UK is called Sky) and there is an interesting exchange about using the power over

In my experience it's your friends posting stuff about you that can be most damaging. They don't tend to have the same concerns for your reputation as you might have.

There's some writing on the floor on the inside of the mirror (what happened to hunter or something) and then a little bit of backwards audio. As I'm too lazy to capture and reverse the sound, has anyone else done it?

I have a Flavors.me page, but my personal space is the most effective option as I have the most control over the look, feel and availability of content. Cheap host + domain + HTML editor = best option.

I use a combination of PogoPlug, Dropbox and Google Docs (actually paid for extra storage there!)

Is scripting/memorising the way to go? Not sure. I'm getting better at (doing and seeing) these things and the best ones have a degree of spontaneity that scripting kills. Cards or slides are usually adequate prompts and if you know roughly what you're going to say you can react to the mood of the room. In terms of

I have Rowmote for general control and the Keynote remote for, erm, Keynote presentations. Being able to wonder around with my Touch and see notes while controlling slides is ace. Some people regard it as magic.

but... uh... Dropbox is an entirely, and I'd say complementary, service. Can you, for example, have multiple users open and edit a single shared document from within Drobbox?
