“Players should be able to make money through the Free Market, just not by selling any product or providing any service”
We should keep pushing him on this to see what happens when he realizes that this devious conflict of interest impacts literally every type of transaction.
Endorsements help educate consumers, and sham endorsements short circuit that process. For example, I was once a State Farm customer, because family is important to me and it came through how important family was to the Paul twins (Chris and Cliff). But I switched to Nationwide because I value creativity, and the…
This is absolutely bizarre to me. You are probably the first person I’ve ever seen who thinks that wasn’t a catch except by the tortured definition of the NFL rulebook at the time. He jumps, secures the ball, lands with both feet in the endzone, falls to one knee (still holding the ball), and then PLACES the ball on…
Eh. As long as he’s not holding Rick and Morty up as a genius paean to the misunderstood value of nihilism that only true intellectuals can fully appreciate, I’m down. I kinda dig the show myself, but I’ve never felt the need to storm a McDonald’s for Szechuan sauce, nor do I think I’m particularly erudite for…
People like you have been whining about this for about 30 years.
Said before, will say again: keep replay review, but get rid of slow-motion, zoom-in replay. Sports happen fast, and stuff can get missed, so there should be a remedy for the clearly, obviously wrong calls. But turning sports into the parsing of high-def, 120 FPS imagery removes any semblance of art from the games.
Like you I don’t see a down side.
Holy shit this whole comment section is full of pearl clutchers and bad parents.
From a certain utilitarian perspective, ”is it a catch?” is not the important question, but whether reviewing the play increases or decreases the benefit/fun derived from watching the game.
Be happy. Zeno would have just kept drawing penalties from the defense forever anyway.
What idiot called it A Philosopher’s Definitive (And Slightly Maddening) Case Against Replay Review and not A Chrysippus Story?
Christ above I’m glad I don’t live in America. The mania of “But the KIIIDDS!!” in these comments is deafening. Thank you for helping me to further appreciate the calm and measured NHS who have been quietly releasing study after study showing the positive affect of vaping on rates of cancer etc. And though the…
My experience is completely anecdotal, but I began vaping 5 years ago, on my 30th birthday, to quit smoking. I only used “sweet” flavors, such as vanilla and cotton candy. I started out with the highest nicotine level, then moved down to 3, then 0. I quit vaping on my 33rd birthday and haven’t had a vape or cigarette…
A heavy handed ban and confused public approach to vaping is not the same thing as “questioning it mildly.”
Sure are a lot of "doctors" on this thread lol
Thank you for this. I went from smoking 2 packs of Newport 100's a day to vaping only, juice at 0.3 nicotine levels (the lowest next to zero). Yeah, I still vape, but it is no where near as damaging as the smoking was. From the day I made the switch, I haven’t picked up a cigarette. My sister did the same, and has…
This is America, we have to extend the War on Drugs because it has gone swimmingly well so far.
